Enterprise-grade switch for the SMB

Pros: Very easy to setup and manage, very robust list of features that you would find in more expensive Cisco or 3Com switches.

Cons: Management page is a bit slow.

Can't beat this switch for the price!

Pros: -Gigabit switch w/ 2 miniGBIC slots.
-Web Management
-Haven't had a glitch, reboot, or problem in nearly a year.
-5 year warranty
-Cant touch the price for the functionality of it.
-Great VLAN support

Cons: -IE only Web management (see other thoughts)
-fans (not a biggie)
-serial interface is lacking functionality
-Telnet is a security hole

Overall Review: -For all the "Unix admins" out there complaining about the web management : Has anyone else heard of IE on Wine for *nix or IE on Mac?? It runs this UI beautifully, no need for a full VM load or a MS PC... You think you would research that prior to buying this switch.. I did, even though it is a huge gripe with this switch, i'm not going to deduct points because i accepted it before purchasing. IE on Wine runs great for things like this.
-The fans aren't any louder then the servers I have on the rack with it, although for a switch it is loud, but not too many switches or rack systems are silent, soo...
-I used this on my personal server rack that is connected to and monitors about 350 Unix servers across my WAN, and couldn't have been more satisfied with this purchase.

Very happy with mine

Pros: Have two of these switches (Software 1.2.1 and 1.2.2) and have had no problems with either one. 4 gigabit connections and 11 100 mb connections total. I like being able to name each port and I like being able to get utilization for each port. I used a xp labtop to logon the first time, set the switch IP's for my network, now log on with server 2003, had to tell IE to trust the switchs and turn Java on.

Cons: Mine are in a closet so noise doesn't bother

Overall Review: Went from 2 16 port hubs to these switches. When using 1 switch and 1 hub 10% of the traffic between the 2 had errors. Now I have no errors on any of the ports. Very happy

awful

Pros: none come to mind

Cons: loud, big for what it is, power hungry. administration is AWFUL. linksys support seems to ignore this switch line as a product.

Overall Review: don't buy this switch

stay away

Pros: If this thing worked as they say it should work i wouldn't be warning you about it.

Cons: management is a big problem. to access it i had to install a virtual machine with internet explorer 6 just to be able to view the web management. Even after doing this the display is all messed up. downloaded with errors and junk. every other time i click on a link it errors out.

Overall Review: i would stay away from this. or buy for a home product and test it out to see if it would be acceptable for a work environment. again if i could i would return the one i have.

SRW2016 fits it's niche perfectly

Pros: This switch does a great job of everything is says it can do. VLANs, QOS, trunking, jumbo frames, etc. I dropped two in to my network and they have been humming along just fine. I've pushed 440Mb/s through so far. I haven't hooked up hardware that can push more yet. I'm going from a fedora mirrored sata box to a 15krpm raid10 on window$. For the price this thing is awesome. I can't afford Cisco 3700s yet and intend to replace these switches later. But for now my pair of SRWs is more than adequate to run 4 vlans all at gigabit speeds. Price per port with the features on this baby make it the best I've used in a while.

Cons: no reset switch
firefox would be nice but i'd rather see a cheap switch than pay more for the development to support all browsers.
firmware is old. They list a few bugs known in the newest firmware, this should have been fixed by now.

Overall Review: In response to a few other reviews-
1. Noise - this is quieter than my cisco T1 box as well as my Cisco 3500. It is a rackmounted switch meant to be in a closet or a rack. I don't get the whining there.
2. browser compatibility- sure it works with all IE versions. Doesn't work with firefox. How do you run a datacenter or even a small IT shop without even a single windows VM? If you are going to brag about a mac running vista faster than a pc, then USE IT. If you are a true linux admin, you should be turning the web interface and management IP off and running it via the serial cable anyways. It is more secure without web admin. The criticisms of this switch come from linux biggots instead of balanced admins. They just want to show off even though they highlight their inability to use a core skill like telnet through serial.

They work just fine

Pros: Priced right

Cons: More internal memory.

Overall Review: If everyone read the directions in the manual on the CORRECT way to upgrade firmware, the product would get an 100%. It doses its job!!!

Don't Buy

Pros: For the price, 96GBits sustained through-put is about all it is worth.

Cons: It is virtually impossible to manage. I wish I had read the other reviews before I purchased it.

Overall Review: Overall, I'm stuck with it; I need the speed and it's not worth the hassle to keep trying other switches -- BTW, Linksys Support Sucks [insert what you don't want to suck on.]

That's my own opinion.
