Very much worth it

Pros: Great performance and latency.
Stable forever, lots of features.
If you're tired of cheap routers resetting all the time under heavy traffic get this.
Cisco remains a class leader and the warranty is awesome.

Cons: Default firmware is pretty bad, and upgrades are a nightmare (TSCP as the web interface simply doesn't work for FW upgrades.... you'd think they would fix this as it's an obvious problem).

Overall Review: Way overkill for a home network but tons of fun to play with all the settings.

Cisco SG300-10 (SRW2008-K9-NA) 10-port Gigabit Managed Switch

Pros: 10 Copper 1GB ports or 9 Copper and two fiber ports. Excellent management capabilities at a reasonable price for layer2 or layer3. Cisco firmware updates are always readily available. Added speed to my home network

Cons: None

Overall Review: GUI driven and very user friendly for an average techie to advance their network skills and ability.

Great Switch!

Pros: We have about 10 of these deployed, along with a few other larger port SG300 series switches. Love them.
-Reliable - Have not has a single one of these reboot on us short of a power loss.
-Easy interface - can find any setting quick
-SSH management makes it super easy to manage.

Cons: None.

Worth it

Pros: solid layer 3 switch, handles inter-VLAN routing nicely, latest firmware has a pretty full CLI, fan-less design, runs pretty quiet, and not a lot of downtime

Cons: the initial setup was kind of annoying...I had a big issue assigning IPs to VLAN interfaces and had to restart from scratch a lot. figured out that a static IP needs to be assigned to VLAN 1 for things to work. I wish it was more like other switches where there's no config right out of the box

CLI is not the full IOS. however, if you're familiar with the command line, you should be able to figure it out fairly quickly (as most of the commands line up)

Web UI is a tad confusing (not really a con for me anymore since I use the CLI for everything)

Overall Review: overall, the pros outweigh the cons in my opinion. I bought this for my VMware lab back in July and it's been treating me pretty nicely. initial setup is kind of weird but once you get it set up, it's really awesome and easy to use. I absolutely love it! The latest image gives you a nice CLI too so you don't have to deal with the Web UI at all.

ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: if you want to use this as a layer 3 switch, make sure you enable layer 3 routing before anything else. for some really stupid reason, if you change the device to a layer 3 device, you have to erase your config.

Cisco SG300-10 Switch

Pros: I love this switch. I purchased it about 2 months ago, and it serves my needs wonderfully. I really only bought it to setup LACP on my FreeNAS box and on my main workstation, but it can do sooo sooo much more. This has nearly all of the features of a full fledged Cisco catalyst switch, for 1/10th the cost.

Cons: Wish I bought a bigger one

Great switch

Pros: Reliability
Reliability
Reliability

Did I mention reliability?

Cons: Immediate buyer's remorse... because I could have used more than 10 ports. Oops.

Even with rack-ears, the size is a little too small for server racks.

Overall Review: This is a great switch. I've used regular brand switches (D-Link, Netgear, Trendnet, etc.) before upgrading to a Cisco SG300 series, and boy the difference in reliability/capability is like day and night. If Cisco's "prosumer/small business" lines are this good, Their 2900/3500 switches are definitely in my future must-have list. (for my house)

Cisco is gonna Cisco

Pros: Easy to setup, very detailed manuals and coming from an old Dell PowerConnect 2724 managed switch... this thing is another world. No power issues, it runs quietly, low heat, has rack mounting plates. The amount of features available on this device for this low the cost is amazing.
This sits behind a PFSense router, it integrated perfectly and provides all of my VLAN needs.

Cons: Forgetting to save the configuration and having to set everything back up after a reboot! Don't forget to save your configuration before rebooting!! I did this about four times.. So this isn't so much of a con against the product but more of a friendly reminder!

Overall Review: The bottom line is, buy this product if you are in a medium sized office or home environment and plan on utilizing all of the features. It's sturdy, easy to deploy and has plenty documentation to get you through the configuration.

Recently Purchased, Note few missing features

Pros: great price, has static routing only, dhcp, vlans, small room for ACLs, mac/ip based ACLs, port security, 802, radius, tacacs, 10 gig ports, slim to-the-side wall plug. flat file system with telnet, tftp, scp.

Cons: no NAT, NAT+PAT, wish it had more room for ACLs, wish ACLs allowed port statements ( the "eq" part ), commands are hybrid of the linksys soho line this came from rather than full ios, serial cable is F to F with no M-F adaptor, no option for usb console access,

Overall Review: all in all, this is a great device, wish it had more layer 3 functionality. most of cisco's soho routers have 2-4 ports and i needed higher port density and thought this would work for a new edge device. DEFINATELY need to upgrade the image to the latest release, it fixes a lot of long standing issues with the web gui and CLI. when changing over to L3 it does wipe the config and make you start over. also when setting up user accounts/access you have to make sure you enable those methods before you change management methods or you could lock yourself out of the device. my computers serial port is a female, and the serial cable they included was F to F without a F to M adapter, so was unable to use the included serial cable. it definately is great for the price, just wish it was a bit beefier really.
