Pros: Dual-core, good battery life, and battery saving options in Linux. Streaming a 720p movie from the internet was choppy, but it appeared smooth when it was coming off the disk and this machine is not made for that, so if you want streaming hd video look at the 1015PN despite its lower battery life.
Cons: VGA port is close enough to third USB port that even slightly bulky usb devices might be blocked if you have a monitor or projector plugged in. Mousepad size, listed as a feature, is actually annoying. Like someone else I'm coming from a 1000h, who's touchpad size never bothered me and manages to stay far enough away from the left side of the space bar for typing without accidentally tapping the touchpad. This touchpad is also level with the top of the keys and almost borderless with the space bar. Disabling tap-click is a solution I prefer not to use. Another listed feature is the keyboard but I find I can hit the edge of a key and press it until I hit the case(exposed between the keys) and the key never registers as pressed. Be on target. Last thing: the 1000h let you get to the hdd without voiding the warranty, this does not.
Overall Review: Had to update the bios to get my 2 gigs of ram working(KVR1333D3SO/2GR), but since then it has been fine. Wireless in Linux: had to get the brcm80211 module for wireless, the wireless button does not work out of the box(or possibly at all), and after a long suspend the wireless no longer works until restart(haven't tried anything else, maybe reinserting the module is the only necessary action). Battery in Linux: >10h. I did not find any battery saving features unavailable in Linux...using a powersave governor, disabling bluetooth and such, and running at minimum display brightness seem to be all that is needed. This series of Atom CPUs does not support the super-hybrid engine's(SHE) overclock and underclock from the Atom N270, so the kernel does not create the cpufv/SHE interface.
