Question 1

what wattage is the gpu?

Accepted Answer

What wattage is the gpu? I know what wattage it runs in games which is 144watts to 146watts, 80fps constant in Star Wars jedi survivor at 2k resolution with all settings at high and ray tracing off. The power brick is 280.02watts. I've tried a similar laptop, Asus tuff with same specs, and it only allowed gpu in game to run at 90watts max. I obviously returned it. This laptop is an animal especially with the ips 2k g-sync monitor. You won't be disappointed I can assure you. I have a custom pc with Asus 3080ti and 11thgen CPU and 32gbs of corsair 3200mhz ram and I'd rather play on this laptop. Hope this answers your question.

Question 2

Is the NB ACER PH315-55-79KT NH.QJ6AA.001 R well-suited for running the latest AAA games at high settings while streaming gameplay?

Accepted Answer

This Acer Predator Helios 300 with an Intel Core i7-12700H and GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU is well-equipped to handle the latest AAA games at high settings while streaming. The RTX 3070 can generally provide smooth gameplay at 1440p, though performance may vary depending on the specific game and streaming software load.

Keep in mind that heavy streaming can put extra strain on the CPU and GPU, so you might need to tweak settings or use hardware encoding to maintain stable frame rates. If you want consistently higher frame rates above 60 fps on ultra settings, stepping up to an RTX 4070 laptop GPU would be a better option.

Question 3

Have there been any reported firmware bugs or performance drops after BIOS updates on the NB ACER PH315-55-79KT NH.QJ6AA.001 R gaming laptop?

Accepted Answer

There haven’t been widespread reports of firmware bugs or performance drops after BIOS updates for the Acer Predator Helios 300 NH.QJ6AA.001. This model’s BIOS updates are generally aimed at improving stability and compatibility with the Intel Core i7-12700H and RTX 3070 GPU, so most users find performance stays consistent or slightly better after updating.

Keep in mind that BIOS updates can sometimes reset certain settings, so if you notice any unexpected behavior, a quick check of fan profiles or power management settings might help. If you’re concerned about stability, it’s a good idea to review Acer’s official support notes for each update before applying it.

Question 4

What is the power consumption and thermal design strategy of the NB ACER PH315-55-79KT NH.QJ6AA.001 R during intensive gaming sessions?

Accepted Answer

The Acer Predator Helios 300 NH.QJ6AA.001 features a power draw typical for laptops with an Intel Core i7-12700H and an RTX 3070 Laptop GPU, meaning around 100-140W combined under intense gaming loads. Its thermal design uses dual-fan cooling and multiple heat pipes to manage heat effectively, keeping temps usually in the 80-90°C range during extended gaming at 165 Hz QHD settings.

Keep in mind this cooling system balances noise and performance, so under heavy use, fans will ramp up noticeably but prevent thermal throttling effectively. If you want quieter operation, dialing back settings or frame rates might reduce heat and fan noise, but overall it’s typical for this performance class and screen resolution.

Question 5

How does the NB ACER PH315-55-79KT NH.QJ6AA.001 R compare in value for money with other gaming notebooks priced around $1200 in terms of CPU and GPU performance?

Accepted Answer

The Acer Predator Helios 300 NH.QJ6AA.001 performs well for its price range around $1200, featuring a strong Intel Core i7-12700H which offers solid multi-core performance for gaming and multitasking. Its RTX 3070 Laptop GPU notably outpaces most GPUs typically found in this price segment, providing better frame rates and allowing higher settings in modern games compared to, say, RTX 3060 or GTX-class GPUs.

That said, the RTX 3070 in this model is still a laptop GPU, so thermal throttling or battery life could be considerations if portability or quiet operation is a priority. If you want top-tier performance at 1440p ultra settings with high frame rates, a newer GPU like an RTX 4070 or 4060 might be worth the upgrade, but for a balance of price and power, this Acer is a strong value in its class.

Question 6

Is it necessary to update the BIOS or firmware on the NB ACER PH315-55-79KT NH.QJ6AA.001 R gaming notebook before the first startup to ensure optimal performance?

Accepted Answer

You don’t have to update the BIOS or firmware before the first startup on the Acer Predator Helios 300 NH.QJ6AA.001 for it to work fine out of the box. It comes with the Intel Core i7-12700H and RTX 3070 GPU configured to deliver solid gaming performance right away on its 15.6" QHD 165Hz screen.

That said, if you want to ensure the latest stability fixes or optimize compatibility with newer games and drivers, checking Acer's support site for a BIOS update can be worthwhile later on. Just keep in mind BIOS updates carry a small risk if interrupted, so it’s best to only do them if you experience issues or need specific enhancements.
