Cables Unlimited - VGA to S-Video or RCA Adpater - 5 INCHES

Pros: Good construction, solid cable.

Cons: It doesnt work. I made the mistake of purchasing BEFORE reading the reviews and everyone is right, this cable will not play VGA on a TV with RCA. It probably works with VGA to S video but not with the supplied VGA adapter. I play videos with my laptop to my TV using a VGA cable, but I want to use RCA which is why I purchased this. It doesnt work.

Overall Review: If you want it for VGA to S video then this cable most likely works. I dont know why they included the RCA adapter if it doesnt even work. Im going to return it.

Pros: I think it will do what it claims to do, and its cheap.

Cons: Not really the fault of the cable, but I was hoping to hook up my sattelite reciever to my lcd montior, going from the svideo on the sattelite to the vga in on the monitor. I wasn't sure if it would do this or not, but it's cheap so i bought one. It didn't work, this cable is for doing the reverse (vga into svideo) of what I wanted and I guess it's only one way.

Overall Review: I emailed cables to go about this they had a $80 product that could do it, but was a converter box. I asked them if they had a cheap cable similar to this, they said you would need the converter. Wonder why this cable can go from vga to svideo, but apparantly no cheap solution to go opposite.

Cons: I read the other reviews and checked with Intel who makes the laptop card. Their card is supposed to allow this. It simple does not work so I tried in in my brand new laptop and it does not work there either. Liek the others I only need and can use the RCA out. Wasted my money and time.

Pros: Great concept. This cable does what is says.

Cons: The S-video and RCA outputs are FEMALE ENDS!!!! Make sure you have either an S-Video cable or a double sided male RCA cable otherwise there is no way to use this. I didn't notice until I received the part and it was a waste of time for my application.

Overall Review: I think they could have just made things easy by both making this cable longer and used male ends that plug directly into the appliance your using.

Pros: Would work well if used in the right application. Cables Unlimited should have a compatibility list to tell folks in what cases it will or won't work.

Cons: Did not work for my Acer Revo AR1600 Nettop...

Overall Review: As I saw somewhere in my Google searches...if your machine or video card has the capability to support this adapter, it will probably be a well documented feature. In my case I ordered it just to see if it might work, and it didn't.

Overall Review: If your VGA does not support TV, then you need VGA TV converter. and it cost a lot

Pros: It is an adapter to allow a desktop to connect to a tv :)

Cons: Many people are giving this a 1-egg rating because it is incompatible with their system and they are not aware. As Xenomorph points out, "Your video card must support S-Video out via VGA - MOST DO NOT. You need to have a particular card that can output the S-Video/Composite signal type over VGA. Some Matrox cards do this. NVidia and ATI cards won't. Your laptop won't, etc. The cable works fine, it is your card that isn't providing the signal needed."

Overall Review: Bought it thinking it might work since my Nvidia card supported TV-out, but it does not support TV out through the VGA port, so the adapter did not work. Oh well... only a few dollars.
