This Mark Twain bobblehead is part of Royal Bobbles' collection of historic figures. Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born on November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri. When he was 11, Twain's father died. A year later, Twain left school to become a printer's apprentice. After a few years of training, he became a typesetter for newspapers and journals in the area. This led to his move farther east as a member of a famous printers trade union. He began to educate himself in public libraries and eventually became a cub pilot on a Mississippi River steamboat. After 2 years, he received his pilot's license, and it was from his time on the river that "Mark Twain" was born. On a steamboat, they yell "mark twain" when measuring a safe depth for steamboats. Twain later moved west and became a miner and worked at a newspaper in Nevada where he began to write under the pseudonym "Mark Twain." In 1865, Twain achieved national recognition for his tale The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. After marrying and moving to Connecticut, Twain wrote many of his classic novels, including The Prince and the Pauper (1881). Along with writing, he was also a traveling lecturer in the United States and other countries. Although he died in 1910, Twain's legacy lives on in his books and biography. This bobblehead shows Mark Twain in a white linen suit holding a cigar with one hand on his hip. All Royal Bobbles bobbleheads are about 8" tall and are made from the highest quality, heavyweight polyresin. Each bobblehead is hand painted, making each one unique. Every Royal Bobbles product comes with its own unique serial number on the bottom of the base to indicate authenticity.
