Candidate for aftermarket cooling 10/31/2011 1:55:59 PM

Comments: Already planned to add my own cooling when I got it. Here's what worked for me. Most of these parts I already had. Good thing they carry over to my new GPU fine.

- heatspreaders for vram and vrm.
- Accelero S1 Rev2 Passive VGA Cooler ($30. Had to use pliers on the bracket a little for it to work with the short screws.)
- Ultra Kaze 3000 rpm - pulling air in the front of the case. With some things put in to help direct the air directly to the heatsink.
- Lian Li BS08 dual-pci slot cooler w/2x scythe slipstream 1900 rpms (pulling air from heatsink).

Able to run several OCCT GPU punishment sessions with no errors and it never got over 71c.

There are better passive coolers out there, but they cost a lot more.

Deactivated item?! 10/16/2011 11:39:55 PM

Comments: In addition to the pros section, this must be noted. If you already have an aftermarket sound card, a full size PCI X-Fi in my case, HOOOLLYYY BALL BEARINGS DO NOT INSTALL THE HD AUDIO DRIVER FOR THE HDMI. It will distort and slowly kill any functionality of your aftermarket device. Even with the HD audio disabled in device manager (it actually installs 4 instances of the driver, for different HDMI output or some such reason) there is still a very large possibility it will eventually completely cancel out your soundcard, and render it useless. This is speaking of the drivers/OS of course, it doesn't actually harm your hardware, just makes a 15 min job of installing a new videocard successfully into a 3 day project. Bottom line, install the driver, install the 3D if you want to, but do NOT install the HD audio drivers if you already have a sound card, unless you really really like troubleshooting complex computer problems, in which case, why aren't you at your tech support job?

fail 9/17/2011 9:45:29 AM

Comments: this card was in a new build: core i5 2500k @ 4.3ghz, p8p67 rev3.1, 8gb ram (2X4GB ripjaw pc3-17000), and this gtx560. no oc on the card. mid-7's across the board on WEI scores except for an old spinning disk @ 5.9 that im using to boot until i get an ssd.

sucks i have to deal with palit for warranty return since im only 2 weeks out from sending it back to newegg for an easy replacement....

when i bought this card it was $20 cheaper than today and didnt come with the batman game. different batch maybe? my card's p/n ends in -1142F, newegg doesnt list that last part of the p/n anymore.

gg palit, last thing i ever buy from you...

So far so good 8/2/2011 9:06:23 PM

Comments: Bought this after having a second Radeon card in a row die on me. Was planning on upgrading anyways, but having two Radeons in a row die on me despite all my efforts to keep my computer dusted out and cool made me decide to go back to Nvidia. So far I'm enjoying the upgrade, ordered a new 1920x1080 monitor to go with it, and all the games I've ran on it so far I've been able to crank the settings to max or near max, so I'm happy.
