Dusk to dawn lighting, its ambient light sensor makes it identify day or night and start dim lighting only at dusk, save energy. Motion sensor lighting, the LED light is activated to bright light once motion is detected, then turn to dim lighting half minute later. Solar powered, battery powered, cordless, easy for installing on the wall. Over 12 Hours run time after one day charges. Great solar powered outdoor light for your garden, yard, aisle, porch, patio, driveway etc. Charged by free sunlight and light in dark when people near. 100% waterproof and heatproof.
Pros: Inexpensive, small form factor, good build quality, highly durable, dependable functionality. Charges adequately during the day even without direct sun exposure. Triggers from about 15 feet and lights up to full brightness so that at a few feet below it's sufficient for locating keyholes. Battery power duration excellent. (Battery appears to be replaceable lithium type.) Easy installation.
Cons: The master on/off switch which must be engaged before use is accessed thru a tiny hole in the case using a provided "tool", but it is difficult to tell when the switch is engaged. The switch actually is a "push-on/push-off" type requiring careful operation with the "tool" to detect the subtle latching click.
Overall Review: The solar cells on top of the unit are sealed around the edges to remain weather tight. Light is evenly emitted through a convex- shaped diffuser and from a mounting height of about 8 feet, covers an area out to about 20 feet. Movement detection is via PIR detector. Circuit board construction is good, but some soldering is by hand and a bit sloppy, allowing a few capacitors to remain poorly connected.
Pros: - Its currently hung 8-9 foot high
- It gets roughly 10 hours of strong summer light daily
- When motion sensor activates it gets quite bright
- I charged it a full day then left the light off over night, by morning i hung it and turned the light on. The light has been working well since
- Fits between my shingles. Pressure and gravity hold it on, I have no need for screws.
- Roughly 30 days ownership, checked it at 4 in the morning and it was working as it should.
Cons: - Ambient light is not very bright at all
- To work properly it must be hung where sun light is present
- it would be nice if the bright light would stay on longer or time options were given.
Overall Review: works great for my location. If you have an area that is able to charge this device I highly recommend it.
Pros: it is actually a very cool piece of kit. I like it and is better quality than most home store plastic fixtures.
Cons: The lens was mounted crooked from manufacturing and could have been easily rectified if I cared. I don't for what I use it for.
Overall Review: I use this as an over head to an outside side gate entrance. The I.R. device kicks the light on high for 30 seconds when any warm body gets within a few feet. Super bright. Perfect for my purpose! it is not all plastic like home store fixtures and the charge lasts all night as long as you initially charge it proper per any new solar NiCd device. (put in full sun then put under fake light during dark hours for the first 36 to 72 hours, so as not to allow battery usage for a few days: allow the batteries to get an initial full charge. mount it and forget).
