So far, so good! 12/30/2019 10:19:31 PM

Pros: Very quick to boot up. Lightweight, but doesn't feel like it's going to snap in half. Keyboard feels very nice to type on. One of the few laptops that still has a DVD drive! Battery lasted 2-3 hours while in active use, which is awesome!

Cons: Short charge cord; will be looking for a longer replacement.

Overall Review: I bought this for my husband for Christmas, and so far he's loving it! He doesn't do any super-intense computing - mainly word processing, basic internet stuff, and older computer games - and it's worked perfectly!

Great performance, awful screen 12/30/2019 5:21:09 PM

Pros: Hardware runs great. Really is a great everyday laptop if you can stand looking at it.

Cons: This screen is cancer for the eyes. I mean it has the be the cheapest thing they could find. Is this not 2019??? Why is a laptop at this price point coming with a cheap TN on it???

Does it's job 12/6/2019 9:32:18 AM

Pros: Works as advertized

Cons: The Monitor setup feels cheap.
This is a budget laptop and I wished I had put more money on a dell.

Just know what you are buying 12/1/2019 8:11:50 PM

Pros: -Can play rise of the tomb raider on low settings at around 30 fps. I personally dont like that but my dad doesn't care. In other words, it can play some AAA games but dont push it
-Starts up pretty fast
- trackpad was amazing until I removed the Lenovo bloatware. Started acting weird
-Decent colors

Cons: -Huge ugly bezels. Like really? 2019 and still 1.5 inch bezels? Gross
-Battery life is a lie- u less you turn all the settings to low, no wifi, and screen brightness at a minimum.
-HEAVY

Overall Review: I am a computer fanatic and this laptop is just not for me but with the huge discounted (near the holidays if you know what I mean) I helped my dad get it and he loves it (so far). He mostly plays age of mythology but the processor gives him a little more wiggleroom to explore. I would say that this would be a great laptop for school except that it is heavy and almost the same size as my 17.3 in laptop due to the massive bezels. Also batterlife is not the best. In truth there are better options out there. Part of the problem is that Lenovo put this computer in between gamer and work use when in reality you should probably pick one or the other. Make it lighter, smaller bezels, and a bigger battery (in other words stop wasting space on unneeded thermals and GPU) and you have yourself a great work/school laptop but as is, it is in a not so good grey area.

Works well with Kubuntu Linux 11/26/2019 10:17:33 AM

Overall Review: I bought this to run Kubuntu 18.04 (best OS choice imho, sorry Windows :) ). I did have to install the hwe metapackages to get the touchpad to work. That wasn't necessary when I tried 19.10 on it.

Overall, it's a good bang for your buck laptop. The 1080 resolution is nice. It has a sleek design. It has a full keyboard with number pad. It still has a DVD drive and Ethernet port which are handy from time to time. The battery life is underwhelming, but I'm not running on battery that much. The Ryzen 5 gen 1 performs well enough, although it would be cool to see more competitive laptop CPUs from Intel. Their latest desktop CPUs are great!

Overall a very good budget laptop.

Good computer, some things could be improved 11/24/2019 6:58:08 PM

Pros: - Seems to working well so far. Everything is smooth, and I previously installed the Witcher 3 on this computer. It ran at almost 30 fps on low and 720p, and was smooth.
- Keyboard is nice and quiet, and easy to type with. I like it.
- display is 1080p which looks pretty nice in my opinion.
- Cover and exterior looks pretty neat.
- computer is pretty light
- SSD runs very fast.

Cons: - Battery life. It can last the entire school day without dying, if I lock it or put it to sleep most of the time.
- Battery life again. DO NOT USE BATTERY SAVER. IT MADE MY BATTERY GO DOWN 2 PERCENT IN A MINUTE.
- It whirs audibly and I don't really have a problem with the sound, but some people may not like it.
- When running simple applications like microsoft word and using bluetooth, battery goes down fairly quickly.
- Space is too small. If it also came with a 500gb hard drive along with the 256gb SSD, it would be better in my opinion.
- Can't run games that well, Witcher 3 on 720p couldn't even hit over 35 fps.

Overall Review: - I think it is a little bit overpriced considering the overall specs and battery life.
- I most likely would not buy it again, unless the battery was better.
- If there was something about the product I would change, it would be the battery, and maybe the small amount of space. Most people don't need too much space but if you are into gaming or downloading movies, 256 GB isn't big enough.

Poorly Built 11/23/2019 10:29:06 AM

Pros: - Decent specs

Cons: - Poorly built displays on multiple units
- Poorly designed, non modular keyboard

Overall Review: I was forced to return my first one for a dead pixel on display. My second one also contains a dead pixel. After 6 monts or so of use I can no longer use te letter |-| on my keyboard (letter after G). I've ad multiple issues wit different keys "sticking" for a wile, but now |-| is just straigt up non-functional. Wen te computer first boots and I'm prompted for my password it just keeps spamming te letter |-| everywere until I it backspace, after wic I can log in, but can not type te ltter at all. I've disassembled te laptop and it is spotless inside, but te keyboard appears to be eld in place wit some kind of plastic rivets, so I would ave to start breaking tings to replace it, IF I could even find one. Obviously I also removed te |-| key itself and it is spotless and functioning properly.

Bought for a Linux Notebook 11/18/2019 7:29:25 AM

Overall Review: I bought this machine solely as a Linux notebook – I have nothing to say about windows performance.
When I received the machine I booted it only once under windows just to make sure that it wasn't DOA and I never allowed Windows to connect to the internet either through wireless or ethernet.
I then used a paperclip to alter the machine suppressing UEFI and enabling regular booting.
I booted Linux Mint 19.2 from a flash drive.
As another reviewer has observed, the touch pad does not work when booted this way – so one is well advised to have a USB mouse available.
Installing from the flash drive was straightforward, and I reformatted the SSD to EXT4.
After the install, the touch pad was usable under Linux.
That's it. If you are looking for a Linux notebook and are willing to do the install yourself, this machine could be a candidate.
