NO TRIM SUPPORT 9/1/2010 2:45:27 AM

Pros: Its a solid state drive with a mediocre read/write speed.

Cons: Other drives at the same price read & write nearly twice as fast as this one (drives of the same storage size).

The major issue is this drive is marked as having TRIM support. I received my drive, and ran a program to check out the drive and there is NONE.

Overall Review: My overall rating is based off of the price of the standard price.

At the price of 180 dollars as I got it (on sale) I would give it 4 stars, only lacking 1 due to having no TRIM support. If you can get it on sale buy it, otherwise check out other options (though you should do that anyways!).

Very pleased 7/16/2010 12:39:32 AM

Pros: In an HP DL385G2 server, SA-P400 raid, Win 2003x64 R2, I get close to the write performance (when new) of a 10K SAS drive, and about 4x the read performance of a 15K SAS drive using SQLIO. Had to format it at 63 sectors/track to get it to work. Otherwise, it's worked flawlessly. Very nice for R/O SQL database partitions. Great for the price.

Cons: Was missing the imaging software; Plextor is sending another copy. The garbage collection is mediocre; write performance drops in half or lower when it gets > 80% full.

Overall Review: The P400 only supports SATA I (150mb/s) speeds, so a faster SSD wouldn't necessarily improve performance.

Treat it like a CDRW: Create a staging volume. Write everything out to it. Defrag it. Then image it and use it r/o.
Or copy r/o files to it and use linkd to create junctions mapping them to your main drive.

When they go on sale again, I'll buy another.
