PNY Quadro 5000 VCQ5000-PB 2.5GB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Workstation Video Card

Pros: Good graphic card, I use this card for Ansoft design software and it work perfect

Cons: At first got the problem on driver bugs, (computer can't detect memory more than 48G due to the video card driver), I called PNY and the sales, customer service and engineers help me and gave me a new driver then later there's some issue on the Ansoft software performance and the PNY people gave me the latest update of the driver and everything run smoothly since then. Thanks to the PNY people, specially to the sales guy who recommend me to newegg.

Pros: I should point out that I am not an owner, but I am an engineer. This post is meant only to point out why the cable lacks the pins around the tab in a DVI connector. My hope is that it will allow people to make a more informed decision when buying the card. There are multiple accepted standards for DVI cables which include DVI-I and DVI-D. The I (for integrated) variant is capable of carrying analog and digital communications, whereas D is purely digital. Because this card is sufficiently recent, it was likely not designed expecting to be used with a display that accepts VGA input, which is an analog standard. The extra four pins that straddle the bar in a DVI connector are assigned to carry analog signals. They are therefore required in a passive DVI to VGA adapter. However, because they are analog pins, DVI-D cables do not have them, as these cables are intended to carry only digital signals.

Cons: If you intend to use this card with a VGA monitor, the inclusion of a DVI-D and not a DVI-I cable is a con. However, buying a DVI-I to VGA cable will cost you less than ten bucks on Newegg. Which is a fairly paltry sum next to the $1780 pricetag which this card currently carries. NOTE: Even though the card's DVI port clearly has the female sockets for the analog pins, this does not guarantee that they are connected internally. Often dual-link DVI-I ports (like the one on the card) are used because they are all encompassing and among the most common produced. It's entirely possible that the analog sockets on the card are not connected internally, or else not connected to an actual video signal.

Overall Review: The maximum image (not including pure text) resolution VGA can support is 640x480. So it may by an unusual circumstance that people want to attach a card meant to be used for presenting content from CAD/CAM, 3D modeling/animation packages and so on to a VGA monitor with relatively low resolution. But if you are such a person, note that the cable included will not allow this with the aid of a standard DVI-VGA adapter. You will either need a new DVI-I cable to use with a pre-existing adapter, or you will need to use a DVI-I to VGA cable, the latter being sold inexpensively on Newegg. Even with such equipment, as mentioned in the cons section, the card may not actually be providing an analog signal from its DVI port anyway. I highly recommend contacting PNY customer support and asking if the card will function with a passive DVI to VGA adapter. If it does not put out an analog signal over those pins, but you want to use the card with a VGA monitor, you could look for an active converter.

Pros: Great card for 3D apps, when it works. But that's thanks to NVIDIA, not PNY.

Cons: This is our 3rd Quadro 5000 from PNY. The card itself is nice (when it works), but PNY is where I really take issue. When one of these cards failed after 6 months of use, we returned it through the typical PNY RMA process. Instead of getting back a new card, PNY sent us back a different (not the same card fixed, but a different) refurbished card. As in SOMEONE ELSES broken PNY card. The refurbished card also broke down within a month, from overheating (in a super-cooled server room)! When you pay $1800 for something you expect the manufacturers to treat you better than that. Over the years we have purchased hundreds of expensive GPUs from PNY. Sending your loyal customers a SECOND broken card is disgusting service, and equivalent to spitting in our faces. They should have sent us a new card and kept their junk to themselves, instead of pedaling it back off on us.

Overall Review: Our other 2 cards are still working, for now, but we won't be buying PNY anymore, we're going to go with EVGA, or direct from NVIDIA.

Pros: Its a GREAT card- splendid performance for CAD workstations.

Cons: Phone support is non-existant from the MFR.

Overall Review: I wrote a scatheing review for this card- still have yet to get a call back from the MFR- Then I thought to test the new monitor I just got.... oddly enough the pink and green lines and purple blotches were caused by the monitor... not the card. Sorry folks, this is a dandy little card- just make sure your monitor is working before you blame it for issues :)

Pros: 1) Went from Windows performance score of 6.6 to 7.5 with a change from NVidia FX1800 to NVidia Quad 5000 2) Mosaic Monitors, great feature for large detailed CAM simulations

Cons: If you are using another powered device in a PCIe 2 slot (I am using a OCZ 512GB SSD) consider buying a power 'Y' connector.

Pros: The card run maya great, nice and smooth.

Cons: The cable that came with it is not DVI, I tryed to plug my DVI to VGA adapter into it and it will not fit correctly. When I look closer I see there are 4 pins 2 above and below the metal flat pin, but on the cable dvi end I see where the metal flat would fit however there is no place for the 4 pins to go. So for now im stuck working on a single montor....

Pros: Supports quad buffer stereo using nVidia 3D emitter and glasses. Supports Quadro specific GL extensions. Great performance

Cons: Price. Since nVidia dominates the high-end market, this isn't likely to go down.

Overall Review: We got it primarily to support a 3D stereo application written in OpenGL that had to run using 3D vision. It cost less and was faster than rewriting the app in DirectX.
