Polk Audio RM510 5.1 CH High Performance Home Theater Speaker System

Pros: *Huge sound small speakers. The pictures do not give these speakers credit for size. *Price - Try pricing 1 RM8 Center, 2 RM8 Sats, 2 RM7 Sats, and a PSW110 sub. *HD Audio and games are awesome on PS3 Slim set to HDMI bitstream. Mine are setup in a somewhat large room. *Center cradle works well to angle up for low placed applications. *Well designed, the side woofers on the RM8's for front adds so much more to soundstage. *First speaker I picked up, I miss-judged weight to size ratio. They are hefty for small package. Made me feel they were well built.

Cons: *Spring clips are cheesy. 16 AWG is a hard fit...but how else could you hook up to such a small speaker. *This depends more on the receiver, but the sub took some time playing with to get to adjusted to my taste. *Have to drop more dough for some RM7 for rear surrounds but will be well worth it.

Overall Review: Overall very pleased. Wish it included two pairs of feet for the satellites.

Pros: These speakers are very high quality...built like little bricks instead of little plastic boxes. They look also look beautiful and have a very "high end" feel to them. I'm not an audiophile but...being a musician...I know what good speakers sound like. For 400 bucks on sale...you won't find a better set of speakers. As noted by other reviewers...buying these speakers separately would cost you over 700 dollars on sale. I was considering one of the cheaper speaker sets but am glad I got these instead...they are worth every penny.

Cons: No Cons...this is a great deal. If you're some kind of movie nerd who needs more power...buy these and add a couple tower speakers later on. That would probably make a perfect 7.1 system.

Overall Review: Other people are selling variations of this speaker system for the same price. I checked them all out and Neweggs deal is the best...the only one offering a subwoofer with the package. So if you looking for great speakers at a great price...put these in your basket and proceed to checkout. If you don't think they're worth the price I'll eat my own shoe.

Pros: These speakers are very high performance, with a quality sound for both music and movies. The subwoofer is absolutely awesome, though it is very big. These speakers are currently being used in a room that is 12' x 20', and are capable of being excruciatingly loud, while still maintaining clarity. Unlike some competitor home theater setups, the RM510 can be upgraded with an extra center for 6.1 sound, or extra RM8s (the front speakers) or RM7s (the back speakers) for 7.1 channel sound.

Cons: The wire clips are very small. They work for 16 gauge wire, however they are two small to easily use with wire pins (I had one break off inside the speaker, which was very difficult to fix), so I suggest getting the highest quality 16 gauge wire possible.

Overall Review: I had been waiting to purchase these speakers for quite a while, and am not disappointed in the least. I would suggest adjusting your receivers crossover frequency to optimize bass output via subwoofer.

Pros: Such great crisp sound! The 3 Dimensional front speakers do wonders with Neo 6 on my receiver. I can really turn up the volume and not worry about distortion. And that PSW10, DAYYUM. After a couple of hours of soft bass play, I felt it was broken in because it started pumping out nice crisp kicks and really comes through on high action points in movies. This setup replaced my old sony center and rears and an old pair of KEF fronts, with a Yamaha sub-woofer It all works together much better.

Cons: Spring clip wire ports don't bother me much but it would have been nice to use the banana plugs I have laying around.

Overall Review: The wall mounts are sturdy and work great for me. I don't know what other ways people want to angle their speakers. If you want to tilt them downward then just set them lower. Even though they are plastic they are pretty sturdy and I really like how it is easy to unhook for easy speaker access.

Pros: Price on sale with promo code for the whole system is what the sub sells for normally by itself. Small, easy to mount satellites. Nice PSW110 sub worthy of use with bigger speaker systems.

Cons: The RM7's are a bit lacking, but you can't expect much from a 2.5" driver. RM8's aren't much better, really need to set the crossover freq on the sub quite high to fill up the upper bass the satellites are lacking.

Overall Review: The RM8's have a 3 dimensional sound. Can hear the sound comming from the sides as well as in front. Center channel speaker matches the satellites perfectly. Good alternative system for those who have a small room without the space for a large speaker system.

Pros: 100W, 8-ohm is easy to find a matching amplifier. Wide range of output volume given a set volume level. Subwoofer produces LF sound cleanly without making vibrating or buzzing that draws attention to itself. RM8 front speakers produce a wide sound stage with their opposing drivers. Subwoofer has automatic standby. No hissing from the speakers with a good amplifier. The fit and finish of each piece is VERY good.

Cons: No wire included. Center channel isn't very powerful on it's own, so sound sources that focus on the center channel require some fiddling with the amplifier to make it sound good. Frequencies under 100Hz pretty much fall to the subwoofer, however it handles that task very well.

Overall Review: The system works well if you get the speaker placement right and if your amp has the option to adjust speaker positon and individual channel gain and crossover frequency. Get the center channel as close to the screen as possible (it's shielded), and make sure it isn't closer to the seating position than the front R/L speakers. I have the RM510 setup in my apartment living room, it's about 20'x30' with the sound area using about half of that. It's a little tricky to get the sound where I can hear everything over the ambient noise while not bothering my neighbors, but that's not the fault of the speakers.

Pros: * Awesome clean and crystal clear sound * Terrific design/size of speakers * Bass sound from the Sub is to die for * Great value for money * A first class product

Cons: Nothing worth writing about.

Overall Review: I was very strongly considering purchasing Bose's Acoustimass 10s to complete my home theater until I came across the Polk RM 510s. In fact, prior to owning them I had never even listened to these speakers anywhere else. I took a chance that payed dividends - simply based on Polk Audio's reputation as "Speaker Specialist" for the last 35 years. Music CDs that I play are very crisp when played thru these speakers via my Onkyo HT-RC160 receiver (also purchased thru newegg). The action movie sounds thru these speakers simply blow me away when watching either dvd or bluray dvds. I'm so glad that my family and I decided to make all our Christmas purchases technology ones this year and that we chose Polk as the brand name of speakers for our home theater experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants the best sound out of their home theater system for a reasonable price and a quality product.

Pros: I really appreciate not on the quality of these speakers, but also the overall value. For the retail price, they're good. For the actual purchase price (I paid less than retail with a promotional code), they're great. The sub throws out a ton of bass (and has an off switch, which I'm sure my upstairs neighbor appreciates). It features a dial to fine-tune the volume and another to fine-tune the low-pass.

Cons: My only complaint are the wall mounts. Placing the curved surround sound speakers behind the viewing area proved troublesome and took some finagling' to get them just right.
