The 'x16' and 'x8' simply refers to how many lanes or bandwidth the PCI slot has available. If the slot is rated at x16 than the video card will have 16 electric channels with which to transmit on and likewise for x8. The theoretical max bandwidth for PCI-3 x8 is 7,880MB/s and 15,760MB/s for x16, assuming the card itself is capable.

A Display Port is very similar to HDMI.  The cost for cables (HDMI v.s. Display Port) are about the same.  Display lines of resolution are nearly the same.  They both can carry Video and Sound.  A Display Port is capable of Higher resolution than HDMI and is capable of carrying USB and other signals.  There is no need for a Display Port if you only need HD video and HD audio, the HDMI is a great choice.  If you need resolution greater than 1080p and you're not bothered with running an extra cable for Audio, then DVI can produce a fast signal and very high resolution.. BUT remember, your monitor determines the highest resolution that can be displayed.  If your monitor is only 1080p, then HDMI is a great choice.

Hello.  There is HD that is usually 720p and 1080p but in reality, HDMI is 1080p and Ultra HD which is 4K.  HDMI is Audio and Visual and has a fixed ratio ( 4 X 9 wide screen) no matter the resolution and with certain circumstances, Ultra Wide.  The video card is capable of higher resolution but only thru DVI (4096 x 2160 which is 4K).  If this were HDMI 4K or Ultra HD it would say so.  You would need a 4K monitor/TV to view that resolution but the game and video card would also need to be 4K Ultra HMDI compliant as well.  For a very capable entry level video card this does a good job.  It will play most any On Line video game very well and quickly.  If you're playing very CPU and Memory demanding video games, you may want a video card with more memory and higher processing power but the prices really start to jump up quickly.
