Pros: Fast card, plays Crysis at playable fps(~30) in all but most intense scenes. Overclocks stable to 832/970 with 8.12 drivers. Works well on COD4 also.

Cons: No instructions on how to get audio over HDMI. Solution found was to download the new ATI HDMI Audio Chip Driver 2.09 from R***tek. Works fine now but some type of instructions would have been very helpful.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Does not run at advertised/bios programmed memory speed of 925mhz. You have to slow down the memory to 900mhz or you get flickering.

Overall Review: It is very annoying that the advertised memory/bios programmed memory speed causes problems, where is the quality control?

Pros: Performs great in games. Powercolor technical assistance on the phone was very helpful and I got a technician almost right away each time.

Cons: Constant flickering just like others. Tried different Catalyst drivers from 8.10 to 8.12. The technician I talked with asked me to underclock my video card to about 20-30 MHz less on the GPU and the same on the memory clock. The card produced significantly less flickering, but had the occasional flicker PLUS the card was not what I paid for at this point. The flicker happened when switching between applications or opening up a window. Basically whenever the Video RAM needed to cache something new, the screen would flicker like the resolution was being reset very rapidly. Why is this card listed as 800 MHz GPU on Newegg when it clearly states on Powercolor site AND recognized through CCC as at default 780 MHz?!?!

Overall Review: Powercolor asked if I would like to RMA through Powercolor or Newegg and I chose Newegg. This gets 3 stars because Powercolor was quick, helpful, and the card would work and be quick if I did not have a defective one. Unfortunately for this time, Newegg decided not to grant a replacement for my RMA, but instead issued a refund. In many situations this might be preferable except now to get this card again, I cannot get the rebate and free shipping this item offered when I had first bought it. To get this card after they issued the refund would cost me an extra $40 (more like $65 at the time of this review) from when I first purchased it. Not happy with the egg.

Pros: This board is wicked fast and produced frame rates (FPS) more than 8X over the HD 2600XT which it replaced. This despite being used in a PCIe 16X 1.1 slot (Intel P35 motherboard.) The cooler on this board is amazing and very efficient. Also this board overclocked very well using the standard CCC tools.

Cons: Horrible flicker that no matter what I did would not go away. No CCC tuning, overclocking, bios changes, driver changes would eliminate it. After 3 days of trying to tweak it I just got exasperated. The board is a little big, but I wouldn't fault it for that.

Overall Review: I didn't notice anything about this in Newegg reviews prior to purchase, but this had horrible flicker and web reports are that it is not limited to just this Powercolor model. There have been many driver updates that didn't fix it, and when I called Powercolor support prior to purchase to check compatibility, it wasn't mentioned. I think anyone purchasing this board should check the current state of this issue. Fortunately NewEgg's excellent return policy saves the day.

Pros: 900Mhz is the answer. The card seems to be settling in well in its new home with zero issues, with GPU @ 780 and Mem @ 900. Temps stay below 65C during lengthy activity although MemIO temps do tend to go up a bit more (monitored using Everest Ultimate). But there are cooling solutions out there..

Cons: Anything above 900 for Mem clock results in erratic flickering. Note: this was experienced on Catalyst 8.12. Folks over at AMD Game Forums have mentioned that this was a non-issue on 8.11 BUT there were a lot of other issues in 8.11 :-\ So I guess you win some you lose some.

Overall Review: I just put together a new machine (Q6600, 2x2GB Gskill 1066, 700W OCZ ModXStream) with Vista 64 Ultimate, and was pretty upset and annoyed that my new machine was experiencing this strange random flicker anytime any 3D activity was invoked (even the screensaver).. After playing around w/ ATI Overdrive and turning down both GPU and Mem clocks, I finally got rid of the issue by turning down the Mem clock to 900 (as others have noted here now, wish I saw it before).

Pros: Fairly quiet compared to my previous card -- HIS 4870 512MB card. What a difference the memory makes! I can run GRID at 1920*1200 with 8x AA with no slowdown. I couldn't do that with the HIS as it would get really slow with the other cars on-screen or in the drift events with all the smoke even at 2xAA so I normally would have turned down the resolution and keep the AA at 2x. (Comp's specs are posted in other thoughts)

Cons: Card goes bonkers when using CCC (Cat 8.12) and does NOT like its memory pushed past 900MHz at all -- with the default supposedly being 925MHz. It starts to flicker like crazy when viewing video or playing games. It really annoyed me for so long and I reformatted and reinstalled everything as a last resort after removing all traces of 8.12 (when I had the HIS) and reinstalling it fresh. My initial solution was to leave it at 900MHz and push the GPU clock to 790MHz. No more flickering, heh, but no OC... You know I wasn't satisfied. Fiddling around I tried Riv*Tun*r by chance and OCd the GPU clock and Memory Clock to 1000MHz and guess what: I've had no flickering since. I've pushed it further and still, it just doesn't cause any flickering - although I do get artifacts at the higher speeds and an eventual driver crash. I wish the fan would move more air since I'd prefer the card to stay well under 70C (60C would be optimal), but that does not happen even at 100% fanspe

Overall Review: I removed the fan/heatsink assembly and removed the thermal paste that was there and put some Arctic Silver and it helped a little with the heat transfer and temperature. My specs are Intel Q9450 @ 3.2Ghz, Asus P5Q, 4GBs G.Skill 1066 Memory, WD 300GB Velociraptor, Enermax modu82+ 525W PSU, Powercolor 4870 1GB @ 800Mhz GPU and 1000MHz Memory, and a few other unimportant things.

Pros: For the Price, and Performance, it really is a great card, very easy to install, fits great in an Antec 900 case with Asus Rampage Extreme Mobo. Did not install any drivers from the CD, went right to the ATI Drivers download and downloaded 8.10 Catalyst Control Center and Display driver. If you do that, you should have no problems, I am very pleased with this product, and I got one, that looks exactly like the picture, I read others did not.

Pros: The first cards that powercolor put out were reference cards. Now they switched to a modified verion (you can see by the board design) The pictures on here need to be updated by powercolor to show what you are really getting.

Cons: I have purchased 3 of these,the first one was great and the reference design board form ati now they use a cheaper (in my opinion) modified board that is not good. The BIOS is different on the last 2 I received. Artifacts in BF2 game that I play and freeze ups with there new bios and ATI control center will not even reconize the card sometimes,when it does the Ati ccc is where you can tell you have different bios. If you go to the overclock settings you will see 1 setting goes to 800 mhz the other card 850 mhz.

Overall Review: I left great reviews of this when I received my first 1 but now the company is using non reference boards and messing up the BIOS on these video cards. I will be sending mine back for another brand. New Egg please have there company provide proper pics of the item. the pictures on now are not right. The board design is way different. New eggs customer service is the best and thats why I shop here.
