The Radeon R9 290, the AMD's high-end GPU, offers the weapon of choice for gamers who demand the best. It's based on the new 28nm Hawaii GPU architecture and introduces the support for DirectX 11.2, capable of rendering reality-redefining imagery in the hottest titles. With massive number of Stream Processors and gigantic 4GB GDDR5 memory, this GPU delivers the performance you need for smooth gameplay at extreme setting. The new CrossFire technology allows you to build multiple graphics cards configuration without the use of interconnect bridges. With Ultra Resolution Gaming you will leave HD in the dust by gaming on displays much, much larger. A rich set of AMD innovative technologies are included, such as App Acceleration, AMD PowerTune, AMD ZeroCore and AMD HD3D technology. With these technology advancements, you'll get more than one way to elevate your gaming experience.

This model is BIOS overclocked to 975MHz (947MHz for reference design), and comes equipped with dual large fans for quiet yet effective cooling even under demanding load level.

  • newegg Built for Crossfire The card features the Next Generation CrossFire support for up to 4 graphics cards with NO interconnect bridge required.
  • newegg Mantle There’s optimization, and then there’s Mantle. Games enabled with Mantle speak the language of GCN architecture to unlock revolutionary performance and image quality.
  • newegg AMD TrueAudio Technology AMD TrueAudio technology brings the world’s first programmable audio pipeline marking a new frontier in realism for PC gamers. AMD TrueAudio technology empowers game developers with a programmable audio pipeline on the GPU, inviting them to put their unique artistic fingerprint on in-game audio in the same way that the programmable graphics pipeline brought unfettered artistic vision to PC graphics. Enabled games can feature more realistic environmental dynamics, a richer tapestry of sound effects, breathtaking directional audio and more. AMD TrueAudio technology enhances audio realism by simulating the human brain’s perception of real-world sound, working in concert with the user’s existing audio hardware to recreate a lifelike experience.
  • newegg AMD Eyefinty Technology Run multiple displays from a single graphics board and expand your gaming field of view across all displays.
  • newegg AMD App Acceleration AMD App Accelerator creates a “co-processing” environment in which the compute processing potential in your AMD Radeon Graphics processor works together with the system central processor, to accelerate enabled applications.

Great Card 9/12/2016 4:26:50 PM

Pros: -Runs everything i throw at it
-Had is for about a year now and not a single problem with crashes or the other
-Not too loud with the fans

Cons: -Runs alittle hot, but not too bad

Overall Review: -Some extra fans would be good for a computer you use with it since it runs kinda hot.

Great Card If You Have Good Case Cooling 7/16/2016 9:34:48 PM

Pros: - Best performance for the price point
- Overclocks decently (1075/5600 stable for me)

Cons: - Cooling issues (resolvable details below)
- Fans can be VERY loud at high speeds
- Draws a LOT of power, especially when overclocked (details below)

Overall Review: There are two issues on this card that need to be addressed:

1. It would appear that while the heatsink on this card is adequate, the fans are not. When I first used this in my Thermaltake V21 case, it was running up to 90 degrees very quickly and pretty much staying there, causing a great deal of throttling. I added a 140mm rear fan in an attempt to alleviate this somewhat, and it had a vastly greater impact than I ever expected.

The card now runs around 70 degrees at full load, even when overclocked. As a result, the fans never get loud enough to cause an issue, and the card generally behaves as you would expect it to.

2. This card draws a massive amount of power. Even more than the 290x in some cases, despite having fewer cores and lower stock speeds. With this in mind, it's important to make sure that the 6-pin and 8-pin connectors have separate cords running all the way back to the PSU. If you simply use both connectors on a single line, you're likely to run into the issues that many people have mentioned, such as black screens or it not working at all, due to power insufficiency.

If you can cover both of those issues, this card will treat you right.

Card is Not Worth the Trouble 3/7/2016 7:06:02 PM

Pros: - Hard to say, was easy to install. Ran games beautifully "when" it ran

Cons: - Games crashes within 20-30 (if lucky) with black screens and white screens forcing you to hard reset your PC
- Runs hot, loud and power hungry (all typical AMD)
- On 2nd Card (RMA original) waiting on what PowerColor's going to say

Overall Review: Bought this during black Friday spent months trying self fixes from online (reinstalling drivers, updating bios, tweaking Catalyst settings) All are jumping through hoops trying to get this card to work. This card is NOT worth it if it was free if you can't use it. Been working with PowerColor again via email (more hoops) with this second card. Even reimaging my PC. Who has time for this? I wanted this card to work. Tried everything. Even asked PowerColor if they had BIOS upgrade for card as well as could upgrade to R9 290x (or something!) because I'm tried of trying to get this thing to work. It just won't work! Every gamer loves the holidays or vacation time to catch up on gaming. I spent all of mine troubleshooting this card because I thought the price was a steal. No please stay away! Now waiting game to see what PowerColor says about this 2nd card. Until then putting my 7850 back in that worked.

Card fails 3-5 times a day. 1/5/2016 9:02:35 PM

Pros: None.

Cons: When you purchase a card for this much money you except a stable card no matter the power. It was a nice card for about month. Now it fails everyday. Even while watching a youtube video. This card was a horrible dicision and i'm glad newegg is out of stock. DONT RESTOCK

Overall Review: I've just contacted support and I will see how they respond if me and my company ever deals with these guys again.

Was a great card 11/23/2015 7:05:31 PM

Pros: Ran everything I throw at it. Ran very smooth

Cons: Have had the card for just over one year . Now the card just stops working after 10 min of surfing the web, not even play any games. Replaced the power supply thinking that was the problem, tried uninstalling driver and reinstall, even installed the card in another computer, no dice. Will have to wait an see if they honor their 2 year warranty. I really did like this card.

Overall Review: It Needs a lot of power.......

Pros: This is a great card ran BF4 on Ultra present at 80FPS for a good solid 2 minutes

Cons: worked for only 2minutes ,card didn't overheat.

Overall Review: ,I RMA'd it for a replacmnet but turned out it was out of stock so I got my money back and got a gigabyte version of the card instead ,more stable performance

Lousy card, get one from any other company 10/6/2015 5:23:27 PM

Pros: It runs fine when it runs

Cons: If you don't mind your game crashing every 10-20 minutes, the company drivers taking literally two days to download to not fix the driver issue, and a really hot graphics card then this card is for you.
If you like your games to run buy any other card, if i'm lucky i can MAYBE get an hour or so without a driver crash kicking me from what i'm playing, and if i'm lucky only one or two computer restarts a day to fix a black screem.

Trust the reviews! 9/24/2015 8:51:51 PM

Pros: Cheap cost

Cons: Legendary unreliability. Flaws detected on hour one. I wish I'm kidding. What an amazing card, never buy anything from these guys. I wish I listened to the other reviewers. Card started crashing at 75 degrees C while doing medium-heavy graphics tasks, and now it artifacts as soon as any sort of 3D game is launched. Stay the fsck away from this product, and this company.
