Good for the price 8/28/2015 10:26:05 AM

Pros: Excellent performance for the value
Nice looking card

Cons: Runs warm without very good case airflow
Cooler is barely adequate for this card

Overall Review: Picked this up for around 200 after rebates/coupons. For the price, there's nothing else on the market that will beat its performance.

I was hoping to unlock this to a 290x, but it appears as these later 290 cards are not unlockable.

The cooler on this is not quite adequate. Only purchase this or other cards with this cooler if you have a case with very good air flow. Using afterburner to adjust the fan curve and with two 120 mm inlet fans blowing on it, I keep my temps in the mid to high 60s without much noise. If your case does not have good air flow, I can imagine this getting quite hot and loud.

Graphics Failure Repeatedly 7/11/2015 5:52:28 PM

Pros: Supposed great cost and performance balance. Fit fine even though it's a huge card.

Cons: Anything graphically intense is constantly crashing. I've tried tech support for games like WoW and CS:GO and none of them boot up. Always crashing. I've tried contacting AMD and got nowhere. Would return this is given the option but 2 months down the road NewEgg and the manufacturer will probably turn me away. Waste of money.

Overall Review: None

Better than I expected 5/9/2015 3:54:22 PM

Pros: Cheap:
The cheapest R9 290 I could find
Good for overclocking:
I run this card at 1122mhz with 1500x4mhz GDDR5 with no issue.

Cons: Noisy:
Fan runs at 85-100% spped during gaming(Max = 3450RPM)
Default clock = 86 degree when running Furmark
overclock = 94 degree when running Furmark

Overall Review: Do overclock this card!
It is going to be noisy and hot anyway.

Excellent for the price 5/3/2015 1:05:13 AM

Pros: This card is blazing fast. Runs everything I've thrown at it perfectly. This includes GTA V at max settings - solid 60fps at 1080p. For the price I paid ($250, and it looks like it's currently cheaper already) it was well worth the money, especially when compared to similar cards.

Cons: Blazing fast also means blazing hot. It would be wise to make sure your case has good air flow. Ensure you have a capable power supply as well. Didn't come with a lot of extras you might find with other cards, such as cables or adapters.

When removing a DVI-D connection, the screw hold actually got stuck to the DVI connector and came out of the card. Not a big deal, but that probably shouldn't have happened.

Overall Review: The cons are included to be thorough. This card is still a great buy despite them. May pick up another soon if the prices stay this low!

Pros: Haven't figured that out yet.

Cons: It does not lock into the pci-e slot correctly. I wasted $190 on a PSU I didn't even need since it's the card itself. The drivers, repeatedly BSOD my pc(it only gets to 1/4 of the way through the install).
The Powercolor guy told me to flash the BIOS of it, because they "know it's an issue for most people". I was emailed a file, it's not even an installer. Reading up on how to manually do it, I am not going to, it says it voids the warranty.

If you have an ASUS M4A87TD EVO AM3 AMD 870 motherboard, or equivalent, do not waste your money. It is currently being RMA'd and I was told there's no refunding. This will be fun, putting in a 2nd card with the same problems. #waste of $526

Overall Review: I bought the card on the 12th, expecting to play the new Killing Floor 2 tomorrow.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize regarding your experience with the video card.

Please be sure to install the video card properly (video card needs to be locked into the PCIe slot) because improper installation might cause a safety hazard.

As long as the product is still under the warranty period, we recommend customers to start a RMA process with us. We typicall do not provide BIOS (unless strongly requested by the customer) due to the risk that it might cause to the card as well as voiding the warranty. In the event that we do send out the BIOS, we require customers to familiarize with our warranty policy, which in this particular case, reflashing the BIOS will void the warranty of the product if done by the customer and not by our trained technician.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds, please double check with Newegg's VGA Standard Return Policy.

Thank you,
PowerColor Support

r9 290 4/17/2015 5:57:20 AM

Pros: This is a nice Gpu for the money. I got it on sale for $260 considering this card used to cost upwards of $400 I was very happy to see the price drop. Very pleased with mantle performance. This is a gaming monster!!!

Cons: When I say it's a gaming monster I'm not kidding! While this card performs very it also puts off a lot of heat and can get a bit loud. I would honestly say that if you have a couple of extra bucks laying around I would stretch for a 970 and have cooler quieter performance

Also didn't get amd never settle card...?

Overall Review: Overall if you don't care about noise or heat this is a great card for the money!
