Features | GCN Architecture A new design for AMD's unified graphics processing and compute cores that allows them to achieve higher utilization for improved performance and efficiency. AMD App Acceleration AMD App Accelerator creates a "co-processing" environment in which the compute processing potential in your AMD Radeon Graphics processor works together with the system central processor, to accelerate enabled applications. AMD HD Media Accelerator Assumes rendering responsibility for HD encode (VCE)/decode (MPEG-4 ASP, H.264. MVC, MPEG2, etc.) and conclusively enable superior video playback quality with advanced hardware post-processing algorithms. AMD PowerPlay Technology AMD PowerPlay Technology dynamically adjusts clockspeeds in response to GPU load, saving power for just when you need it. AMD PowerTune Technology Maximizes performance under load conditions by dynamically increasing the GPU engine clock to take advantage of unused TDP headroom. Also allows users to configure their own TDP limit, within a provided range, for even higher performance or more power efficiency. PCS-Professional Cooling System The unique cooling technology can decrease operating environment temp. Effectively, and enhance headroom for OC capabilities. Gold PowerKIT The Solidly-built Components enhance the stability, performance, efficiency and quality. UEFI Support Better security by helping protect the pre-startup - or pre-boot - process against bootkit attacks and faster startup times and resuming from hibernation. Virtual Super Resolution Get quality that rivals 4K, even on a 1080p display while playing your favorite online games thanks to AMD's VSR. HYBRID solution Combine both air-cooling and watercooling to one perfect hybrid system to maintain higher over clock performance with lower temperature. |

Pros: Excellent card - backplate makes it very rigid when installed, helps because of the length of the card. - Overclocks well (1130 core, 1600+ memory) - Super quiet (Mute Fan Technology) - Backplate - FreeSync - DX12 Async Compute
Cons: - Isn't a Fiji GPU - Is a little longer than others
Overall Review: Great card overall, performs nearly identical to the Sapphire Nitro 390. Someone mentioned it fails 5-10 minutes into any game. This is simply not true and is likely a PICNIC. I haven't had any issue with running TW3, MGSV or GTAV. Another user mentioned the fans are loud at 100%.. which is true for every single graphics card in the past 3 years. Seriously? You listed this as a con? Might as well add "Allows me to waste time on computer not doing anything productive" to list of cons next to noise complaints about 100% fan speed.. kek
Pros: Fast Quiet
Cons: Fat Long
Overall Review: This was my second 390 card. The other I was happy with but I was putting together a second build and couldn't pass up on the price. This is a mammoth of a card in size, not as long as my Sapphire but it will fill up 3 slots. Make sure you have a roomy case. It is long as well. Installed the latest drivers and it's running without a hitch. At full load this thing is quiet. I paired it with an R5 and it's barely even noticeable while playing GTA V. Never owned a Powercolor before and was a bit nervous at the start but I've no issues with this company and would purchase from them in the future. I was nervous as this machine only had 650w but I've had no issue as of yet even with an overclocked processor. People told me I would have tons of issues with AMD but I've yet to see one with the last 3 cards I've purchased.
Pros: -Well designed Cooling system. Silent at idle/typical desktop usage. Mediocre noise while gaming but not as bad as my old GTS250. Temps are 39-41 idle and 66-68 during gaming. Very impressed with temps. -Includes backplate, keeps card very sturdy. Also setup for watercooling not that it needs it. -Card is powerful. Runs any and all games I want at 1920x1200. Will be stepping up to 1440p soon. -8gigs ram - Not necessary today but I am hoping it becomes more important next year. If it does, games will only be better for it and I will have a card already ready for that. I also wanted to start modding Skyrim which requires a ton of Vram so this will definitely help. -Price- Jumped in at the $225 after rebate deal a couple weeks ago. No brainer at this price
Cons: -Its too fast for older games (har har). I was getting some tearing in, for example Crysis 1. After setting a max frame rate equal to my monitor's refresh rate, issue fixed -Big (not really a con but a head's up. Just barely made it into my Antec 900 case.
Overall Review: -No idea what my power draw is but I am using an Antec NEO 620W and have no issues. I have also read that when you manually set your target frame rate (say for example to 60FPS) instead of letting the card unnecessarily run at max speed, power savings can be significant (75-115W) -I have no issues with drivers or game compatibility at all. Running the 15.7.1 released driver on Win7x64. --AMD is making strides with addressing their reputation for making hot power hungry cards. I hope more people support them and keep competition in the graphics card industry alive. This is my first AMD card and I couldn't be happier. -I always take negative reviews (especially the short ones) with a grain of salt. I'm fairly convinced most people with crashing or DOA claims have inadequate hardware (PSU) or are not doing a thorough job of removing old drivers/setting up the new card. -If you are considering this or a GTX 970, I wouldn't personally use DX12 support as a deciding factor. Even though AMD supports async compute, in reality both Nvidia and AMD currently only support parts of DX12 and it will be probably 2017 before we really wish we had a full DX12 card.
Pros: I bought this for my very first gaming rig and so far, its been running really well! It's really fast, the fans are pretty quiet and I don't hear my computer at all most of the time. I have run into no problems whatsoever so far and I would recommend this card to anyone.
Cons: None
Overall Review: The card can get pretty hot when the fans are off.
Pros: This is my very first AMD card. I had an HD 7990 for a week but it was defective so that doesn't count. So coming from Nvidia I heard about all the negative press that AMD was getting. Bad drivers, poor performance in reviews. All that junk. Let me tell you right now THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH USING AMD!!! I'm a believer. I have come from being an Nvidia user for 2 years and found their products to be very very good but at the same time I HAD to see what the competition was bringing to the the table plus that whole GTX 970 3.5gb fiasco annoyed me. So here I am. This card is POWERFUL. 512bit memory bus running 8gb of VRAM. I can max out all my games on a 1080p Plasma TV and throw mods at em to the moon with no problem and a achieve a constant 60fps. More stream processors than my dual 760's and 970. Now I must let you in on a secret. I don't use ANY UN-NESSARY FILTERS in my games AT ALL. So anti-alising, motion blur, film grain, depth of field and any camera effect used to simulate camera lens defects. Its just down right silly to use that stuff. Kills your performance for no reason. TAKE MY ADVICE. So since I have all this free headroom I gave the Virtual Super Resolution feature of the card a shot and now I play THE MAJORITY of my games at 3200x1800 at 60fps. Utterly FANTASTIC. 5,760,000 pixels vs the 2,073,600 pixels of regular 1920x1080. No need for anti-aliasing when you can just INCREASE THE RESOLUTION! I used MSI Afterburner to overclock the card with maximum voltage, full power and an aggressive fan curve. My results are GPU:1140 Memory:1700 Very good results but boy oh boy wait till I talk about the side result of that performance in the Cons section. But the performance put me in 1st place in the 3d Mark Firestrike boards for my processor (I7-3770@4.5ghz) and GPU combination. Oh and this card was large but still fit in my Cooler Master Elite 130 mini itx case. Fans rubbed against the side of the case though. Had to bang it out with a hammer to make a small dent to give the fans clearance. Card looks like a monster too. Very beefy. Like a muscle car. A clean one at that.
Cons: HEAT! OH MY-THE HEAT! I knew AMD cards were warm but MAN this is crazy. I had to man up and open up my case to make sure EVERY FAN was set to exhaust and make sure my cable management was PERFECT. This could all be due to the size of my case I know, but my Nvidia cards weren't this intense. I'm probably gonna have to down clock the gpu a tad bit. At 100% fan speed while playing TitanFall maxed out at 3200x1800 the card got to 84c! I had to just exit the match and return to desktop. The card began throttling down. It was too much. I run all my case fans at max speed always. Also if you don't disable all power saving features for this card with Afterburner it will dynamically adjust your clocks in game to low speeds based on gpu load. I know AMD does this to save on power and reduce heat but this is a serious problem that can kill your fps in games. Finally the AMD control panel is useless for games. I had to download Radeon Pro to properly force V-sync in a couple of key titles that I play. Once again with Nvidia this was not an issue. Control Panel was great. Finally because of the heat issues I had to increase the fan speed naturally and man this thing is LOUD. If you got on headphones or a good surround sound system then cool but do everything in your power to keep the fans from having to go from 80-100% cuz its gonna sound like a blow dryer. Even at 70% its really audible.
Overall Review: All in all I had to subtract an egg for the card. I didn't wanna do it because the performance and price is awesome but looking at this card from the perspective of someone who may not know anything about gpu shopping or even that much about graphics tweaking; These issues need to be addressed and could be a problem for those who simply wanna hook up and play and expect everything to just work flawlessly but all in all after you get past the little snags this card made me believe in AMD as a viable solution to not just gaming but other things as well. I will be looking more into their products for now on and I dunno...I think my next card will probably be AMD again. We'll see...Boy if their next tier of high performance graphics are even stronger than this...I may go for the Fury or Fury X when I get a 4k Television. As long as the price is right.
Pros: -very efficient and elegant desgin, like it alot, its got alot of potential in terms of temps and overclocking. -heard alot of review that this card beats the GTX 970 and is on par with a GTX 980 -no this is not a rebrand, its a refresh with a much higher clock, lower power usage, 2x more VRAM (which is a plus for 4K and mods), lower temps then its predecessor 290, and atleast 10-15 higher fps in games) -directx 12 is gonna be a plus as well with amd stating that it may increase upwards to almost 80%, depending on what video card you have
Cons: -if you care about energy costs, then this card is not for your, it consumes 275 watts of power -like i said its a power hungry card which consumes alot of watts (if you dont atleast have a 600 watt power supply, i dont recommend this card) -its also pretty big considering it basically takes up 3 slots, and long with a length of 11.5 inches which almost reaches a ruler (so if space is a concern for you then think twice about this card)
Overall Review: i was originally going to go for the nvidia geforce gtx 970 but i heard some downfalls like its 3.5 gb vram issue, and the fact that the r9 390 is the better price for performance right now, so my conclusion is that if your considering serious horsepower then yes i would recommend nvidia because they have serious cards like the gtx titan x and titan z and 980 ti, but then again you could also get the 295x2, but if your looking for something thats fits the price per performance then i recommend this card
Pros: Very quiet, I like how the fans spin to come on to cool then shut off fairly quickly (I hope this is normal). Running Witcher 3 on Ultra at 1980/1020 with no hiccups at all. Will try come hardcore shooters soon and see but I doubt it will drop frame rates bad on anything at this resolution.
Cons: Nothing yet :)
Overall Review: Very long card. Had to buy a bigger case!!!
Pros: Great specs. 8gb Memory
Cons: Power issues with this card. Monitors would first die after 5 minutes of use and then the PC would eventually shut down. I tried a 750W and 800W PS. Had to replace with a different 390 card while I RMA this one. Not a huge problem, but... Powercolor RMA is very slow. Powercolor physically received the returned card on 1/11/16. I just got an email 14 days later stating it is now finally in their system and it would take up to another 3 weeks to process the request. I called in to their help center and now they do not have enough stock to replace my card. It has been 21 days and counting. Some manufacturers offer an advanced replacement but Powercolor does not.
