Crush your enemies, climb the tower of paperwork, or do both at the same time. Intel's Core i7 processor not only makes it possible, it makes it easy. The Core i7 920 has quad cores that run at 2.66GHz and shares 8MB of L3 cache.

Quad cores means true multi-tasking and multi-threading. One core handles the usual action on your operating system, while the second can play a DVD on the TV, the third download a file from internet, and the fourth one sends audio to the kids in another room without lags or stutters. All this is made easier with Intel’s advanced Digital Media Boost.

With Intel Turbo Boost technology and Intel Hyper-Threading technology, The Core i7 enables highly threaded applications or demanding applications to work in maximum speed without need the slightest effort. The 45nm Intel Core i7 processor is armed Intel HD Boost, which implementing new Intel Streaming SIMD Extension 4.1 (Intel SSE4.1) instructions for fast high definition video editing and encoding, enhance the multimedia performance.

Got me through a decade of my life

Pros: - Best Cpu ever

The Unbreakable Object

Pros: Purchased this processor in 2009 and 9 years later it shows absolutely no sign of slowing down what so ever.

Beast of a processor

Pros: Absolutely flawless in the time I've used (abused) it.

Cons: None -- never a disappointment in it's intended function

Other Thoughts: I am on the verge of a total update to my entire system. I was curious to how old my current setup is so I came here to NewEgg and did a purchase history. There it is... Feb 13, 2009 --

1 x Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield Quad-Core 2.66 GHz LGA 1366
1 x ASUS P6T Deluxe LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
1 x XCLIO Windtunnel Fully Black Finish 1.0 mm SECC Chassis ATX Full Tower Computer Case
1 x CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory
1 x CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply
plus a few thermaltake blue led case fans and some Artic silver thermal paste.

8+ years of the same mb/chip setup is mind boggling but here we are. I'm still using all of the listed items above including the original thermal paste application. (it didn't occur to me that the paste may need replacing over the years) but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I've ran through more than several hdds, mice, keyboards, and optical drives but the core remains. The sheer amount of memories that this rig has logged in pictures, videos, games etc. is epic. I can only hope that intel hasn't lost the recipe in the new Kaby Lake i7's. It's been a great ride and this processor will probably find it's way into my stash of "things that have never failed me so it makes the archive" drawer. I'm almost positive it will be reborn with another function in the near future as a computer for a cnc router. It will be one of the stable parts of that setup as I can imaging this thing running in perpetuity.

Turns out my awe was a drop in the bucket.

Pros: Put the system together, got it running without OC, it was fast. Ran CPUID on it to confirm our suspicions and yep! IT WAS A D0!

Cons: 0 defects still

Other Thoughts: Slapped a Vigor ||| and some thermal at minimum, consider going liquid.

Best CPU I Have Ever Owned.

Pros: - Great price/performance ratio
- Completely changed the CPU landscape

Cons: - None whatsoever

Other Thoughts: As the title says, this is simply the best CPU I have ever owned. I haven't upgraded my mobo (ASUS P6T Deluxe) or CPU since I bought them in early 2009. I am starting to put a new computer together now, and this has made me think back on how reliable this CPU has been. It's still going strong, but after 7 years, I think it's time to move on.

Still powering through...

Pros: Its been exactly 7 years since this was delivered to my door and it has never backed down from whatever I do to it.
I received the "C0" version of this processor and had a rough time correctly overclocking it verses the"D0" version. After a lot of time tinkering with this quad 2.6Ghz I run it stable year round at 3.8Ghz, improving cpu cooling as I went up (currently using Corsair 110i GT). I've kept the same CPU, MB, RAM, and Power Supply since original build. Over time replaced CPU coolers, HDDs to SSDs, Graphics cards AND the computer case itself but not the core components.

Cons: Its getting old and used replacement parts to support this CPU's needs are not going to get any cheaper, if they fail.

Other Thoughts: With Skylake out upgrading is always in my mind. I would love to have SATA3, USB3, M.2, and other things to be more up to date. I know even with how well this 920 Bloomfield running, a new Skylake CPU would be faster, hard to justify the $700ish to update for what I'm currently have now.

Still Running

Pros: Still running 6 years later.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Had some heating issues but reapplied paste over a year ago and no problems since.
Am about to finally replace this part of my PC and the Mobo because 1366 and thought it deserved a goodbye.
