WD My Cloud EX4 Diskless: 4-Bay Personal Cloud Storage WDBWWD0000NBK-NESN
  • neweggOwned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: excellent build

Cons: does not work

Other Thoughts: Bought it at a local store. Could not get the installation working. Try on multiple computer.
Returned it and exchange for EX2. The latter works with no problem.
Was it faulty? I did not get any helpful support from wd at all.

QNAP TS-212-E Diskless System Network Storage

4 out of 5 eggs Qnap 212E, bought 3 of them 04/19/2014

This review is from: QNAP TS-212-E Diskless System Network Storage

Pros: Affordable; intuitive installation; tons of apps; excellent dashboard

Cons: Plastic
A little bit on the noisy side

Other Thoughts: Not sure about reliability.
One out of three that I bought has a noisy fan (though not all the times).
I use WD 4TB hdds on one of mines. The hdds are a little thicker than the regular hdds. They touch the top cover. Since the case is made out of plastic, it is easy to fix.

BUFFALO LinkStation Duo 2-Bay 2 TB (2 x 1 TB) RAID Network Attached Storage (NAS) - LS-WX2.0TL/R1
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Cost less than the other 2-bay nas enclosures

Cons: Really slow. Average less than 18 MB/s.
I have another Linkstation duo with my own 2x2TB hard drives in it. They both are 5,400 rpms hdds, and the average writing speed on this is 45~50MB/s. I am planning to backup/upload my ~10TB data to the nas, and it would take forever. I'd probably have to buy my own hdds instead of using the ones that comes with it. THEY ARE TOO SLOW.
