1 out of 5 eggs Nice compact cooler with a fatal design flaw 12/07/2016

This review is from: Cooler Master Vortex Plus - CPU Cooler with Aluminum Fins and 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Easy to install (Intel) Runs quietly and cools efficiently.

Cons: The 4 plastic supports that go through the motherboard are not strong enough to hold the cooler assembly if the motherboard is mounted vertically, as most are. The little pips on the supports under the motherboard that are expanded by the black pins break off under the weight of the cooler and the pressure of the tensioning bar, and the cooler then flops over and either dangles or just plain drops and hangs there by its power connection.
This is a known problem, and while Cooler Master will send you a new set of supports eventually, they haven't re-designed them in the retail packages.

Other Thoughts: There are plenty of other compact cooler on the market. Look for one that uses screws and a backplate to hold the cooler onto the motherboard.

1 out of 5 eggs Going back 07/17/2012

This review is from: Rosewill Model RC-301 - Dual Serial Port PCI Card

Pros: Was cheap

Cons: Doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: Driver disk refuses to install drivers. Chipset manufacturers website even worse. Got it to work once. After reboot, disappeared again and refused to re-install. Win 7 64bit doesn't recognize it. Sending it back.
