Pros: Strong 2.4ghz and 5ghz signals. I have access from the other side of my neighbors house. 30Mbps internet service is 30Mbps wifi in my bedroom at the other side of my 2500sqft house.
Cons: yeah the firmware is not as 'ez' as Linksys, but you don't need to be in there too much. Only took 10 mins from unbox to complete, including: both SSID's configured, an external harddrive hooked up, all my devices 'named', a guest network created, and a firmware update. (If you don't see internet right away, unplug the WAN connection from modem to router and plug it back in).
Other Thoughts: I've been a Linksys lifer since the WRT54g. My latest purchase of the EA3500 has been a nightmare: 2 RMA's, loss of connection, etc... I decided to go with this ASUS and could not be more pleased. It has been running non-stop in my house for over a week with 4 users operating 4 iphones, 3 ipads, 2 appleTVs, 1 xbox, 3 desktops, 2 laptops, OOMA VOIP phone, and 1 smart TV. We usually have 2-3 people streaming Youtube, CBS, etc... while another is gaming with NO LAG! My Linksys EA3500 would get SO hot from the traffic, but the ASUS RT-AC68U is calm and cool (probably due to the dual processor CPU, RAM, and all the lovely heatsinks inside). Most appealing is the super-strong signal I get from the upstairs bedroom on the other side of the house. I stream HBO-NOW in HD to that location with no problemsin 5ghz I ran a speedtest from up there and saw 30Mbps+ which is the exact service I get from Time Warner and can see from my wired gigabit desktops in the same room with the router. LOVE THIS ROUTER! Never going back to Linksys.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I am in IT and have used LinkSys routers for over 18 years. This router is NOT up to their former 'standards'.
Cons: the first one stopped working altogether 2 months in. Linksys RMA'd it. The new one started dropping connection to cable modem after another 2 months. Sometimes it drops, sometimes it locks up. endless chats to linksys tech support and customer service are pointless. "linksys cares" agent. linksys, check cases: 04907440 and 04890714 and ref:_00D306e4T._50080hmxpa:ref and 04492623.
Newegg customers - DO NOT BUY THIS.
Other Thoughts: Linksys will respond with something pointless below. I have spent hours on phone, chat, email, hold, etc... DO NOT BUY THIS.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Pros: Installed into old Dell Vostro 400, loaded Windows 7 64-bit. The machine now screams! Plenty of storage for OP Sys and programs. Media going on the old HDD. Be sure to download latest magician software from Samsung (currently at version 4.3). The software will optimize for your operating system (i.e. turn off prefetch, etc...) and then you can boost the performance and set RAPID mode on. SCREAMS!
Cons: price drops all the time. buy now and check back over the next week to apply for your ironegg credit.READ FULL REVIEW
