Western Digital Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: RMA process seems good.

Cons: Units were broken in different ways. One unit failed to format in linux. Second unit formatted and copied 200 G before write failures in linux. Retried format on a windows machine and write failures started at 100G. Was forced to return to a 1G green drive while waiting RMA process

Intel 330 Series 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Unlike OCZ bad experience the intel drive was uneventful. Cloning went smoothly with external sata-usb adapter. Changed into to laptop and everything went smoothly.

Cons: Price is higher than OCZ and kingston but uneventful

Other Thoughts: Good addition to laptops

Crucial M4 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Fast drive and fits in small hard drive space of ultra books. Dramatic results compared to the manufacturers supplied 5400 rpm drive.

Cons: Had a terrifying experience on initial power up after cloning original drive. Had to remove the battery and the power adapter and wait a short while before power up the ultra book or the bios failed to detect drive. Solid ever since

Other Thoughts: 10 second boot with XP on intel i5. Worth the price!!!
