G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

Pros: I used this RAM for my first build with an Asus M4A79XTD EVO and it works great. The board defaults the speed to 1333, but it's easy enough to change. Even running at 1333 it got a 7.5 rating from Win7.

Cons: None so far

Overall Review: I chose this RAM based largely on the lack of reported problems with G.Skill memory. I could have saved a little money and taken my chances with another brand, but I'm glad I didn't.

Decent

Rosewill RHM-556 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Headset
Rosewill RHM-556 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Headset

Pros: Sound quality is ok, the microphone tucks out of the way, and the placement of the volume control isn't bad once you get used to it.

Cons: Not comfortable at all, I wear them over a hoodie to keep them from rubbing my ears raw.

Overall Review: If you plan on using a headset for extended periods of time, get yourself something better.

Horrendous

Mafia II PC Game
Mafia II PC Game

Pros: The graphics are very nice, and the detail seems true to the period. The shooting is pretty good too, it's a shame that it's completely overshadowed by cutscenes and driving.

Cons: Wow, I mean it's barely even a GAME. If cutscenes and driving time are your thing, then you're set. This probably has more similarities to an interactive movie than an average game, except the movie would give you more options. It also requires Steam for activation, I'm not a fan of theirs.

Overall Review: It really is that bad, I don't even think I could recommend it at the bargain bin price level. Rent it on a console if you absolutely must

Driver Fiasco

SAPPHIRE 100282SR Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card w/ATI Eyefinity
SAPPHIRE 100282SR Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card w/ATI Eyefinity

Pros: For four months it worked without issue and would dominate anything I threw at it.

Cons: The drivers are a joke, my PC was solid for months, but now in the last week or two I have been unable to run simple programs without driver failure leading to lockups. It just seems ridiculous to me that a video card of this price is failing to run applications that onboard video would have no problems with.

Overall Review: If this driver issue isn't resolved within the next week or two, it looks like I'll be joining the many that are one and done with ATI

Easy choice

Logitech MX 518 8 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Optical 1800 dpi Gaming Mouse
Logitech MX 518 8 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Optical 1800 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: The mouse has a nice feel to it, definitely a good gaming mouse for the price.

Cons: None

Overall Review: I used an mx510 for several years before buying this one for the new build, so I may be biased on how it feels. I had no problems with that mouse and this one is noticeably better.

Good case, rebate hassle

AZZA Solano 1000 Black Japanese SECC Steel/Metal mesh in front MicroATX/ATX/Full ATX Computer Case
AZZA Solano 1000 Black Japanese SECC Steel/Metal mesh in front MicroATX/ATX/Full ATX Computer Case

Pros: This case looks pretty good, has plenty of room as expected, and is easy to work with. Airflow should be adequate for most people and it is reasonably quiet considering the five fans and mesh design.

Cons: Good luck getting the rebate, it's probably best to just factor that out of the price.
