NETGEAR WNDR4300-100NAS N750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router - Premium Edition, DD-WRT Open Source support, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab

Pros: Easy setup on PC, Mac laptop picked it right up - and gets full data rate, that doesn't happen on some brands - and it's working with an iPhone, iPad, and an Android phone, too. I have another brand that works fine, but only with the PC and Android phone, so I'm really happy with this router. Good Netflix streaming, too.

Cons: It took a long time (a few minutes on some steps) to complete the setup steps; easy enough to follow the setup instructions, just really slow doing it. I had one that did the setup steps quite fast, but failed several setups before it succeeded; at least this one worked the first try. Once the setup is done, works as fast as any I've used. The wifi comes back on in seconds if you've turned it off with the switch. Once setup, I have no complaints about it.

Other Thoughts: It has an off switch for wifi; don't know if that makes a big difference, but haven't seen that on a router before. Supposed to save energy; so I shut it off when I'm finished for the day. I can still stream Netflix on direct wire while wifi is off.

The router this one replaces needed a manual reset just about every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times; this one hasn't gone offline yet, and I'm hoping it never will. It shows 65 mb/sec and rates the signal excellent, something I never saw with previous routers. I suspect that's the best I'm going to get with the equipment it's working with. Nothing slows down while streaming Netflix in HD on a TV and on a laptop, while downloading large files on a PC; for a home unit, I feel that's doing very well.

3 out of 5 eggs disappointing 05/13/2014

This review is from: JVC HA-FX5-B 3.5mm Connector Inner-Ear Gumy Plus Headphone - Black

Pros: comfortable

Cons: muffled sound, can get decent bass, but not the rest

Other Thoughts: Tried these when my Sennheisers quit. Some of the music actually seems to be missing with these, compared to the much better buds I had before. Ok for a spare set, but when/if the Sennheiser's go on sale again I'll grab them. I expected more out of JVC, have had several of their products before and thought highly of all of them. But then, these are entry level price...

SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip 1.1

5 out of 5 eggs long lasting 05/13/2014

This review is from: SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip 1.1" Gray 4GB MP3 Player SDMX22-004G-A57G

Pros: Tiny size, good sound, and it's still working after a year and a half, and still puts out a few hours between charges,.

Cons: none for me

Other Thoughts: Earphones make a huge difference. I got a pair of Sennheiser CX200 earbuds, and it was just great, deep bass, crisp everything else. It lasted longer than the Sennheisers, and I got some JBC earbuds that sound muffled by comparison. Moral of the story - don't put down the source till you've tried it with quality speakers/earbuds. Now if the Egg would just have those Sennheisers on sale again...
