EVGA GeForce GTX 680 MAC DirectX 12 (feature level 11_0) 02G-P4-3682-KR 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 Video Card
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Runs Mac games as fast or faster than any other "approved" Mac OS X compatible GPU for the Mac Pro. Strong performance on CUDA accelerated apps, too.

Cons: I wish it had more video memory.

Other Thoughts: Works fine with CUDA accelerated apps like After Effects and Premiere Pro after you correctly add it to the "whitelists" of CUDA and Ray-Traced 3D Enabled GPUs. Adobe apps don't detect CUDA GPUs automatically.

4 out of 5 eggs faster USB3 bridge for 6G SSDs 09/15/2011

This review is from: Koutech IO-ASU330 SATA 6G Device to SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Host Bridge Adapter

Pros: Provides faster performance for 6Gb/s SSDs when connected to 4 lane USB 3.0 host adapter rated at 5Gb/s per port.

Cons: If bridge not powered up, it will cause an EFI error when booting Mac Pro.

Other Thoughts: Koutech's EEU330 USB3 enclosure does NOT use this bridge board even though the model number is similar.

PNY Quadro 4000 for Mac VCQ4000MAC-PB 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Workstation Video Card For MAC
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: State of the art "Fermi" architecture provides screaming performance for certain pro apps like After Effects, Premiere Pro, and MatLab. Plenty of VRAM. Requires only 1 power lead. Takes up one slot. Works on both Mac Pro and Windows PCs.

Cons: Pricey. Not optimized for gaming.

Other Thoughts: If you are a Mac gamer, the Radeon HD 5870 is a better choice.
