This review is from: MB MSI|990FXA-GAMING RTL Configurator
Pros: FYI more on Chip Creep.
Cons: You need to remember this possibility.
Other Thoughts: After using my new build for over a year, yesterday I turned it on & got a black screen & no further boot up.
I thought of the possibility's as to why. The first thing I do is remove & replace the Ram sticks & it works.
It seems that over time the constant boot up & shut down of every day use can cause 2 problems.
Oxidation forms on the Piano connections of the Ram sticks & it can't be seen. The heat up & cool down of daily use over time can cause the Ram slots to expand & contract, causing what is known as Chip Creep.
The Ram can actually become loose & move out of the slot just enough to get a bad connection.
Always remove & replace the Ram sticks first. If that don't work then continue trouble shooting other connections & PSU & Motherboard capacitors for any swelling.
Pros: Great Mobo.
Cons: Important info left out of Book.
Other Thoughts: The book has instructions for how to install 1 GPU in Slot PCIE-2, & does not have any info about where to install another GPU to get SLI to work & settings to appear in Nvidia or Geforce driver Software. I had to call MSI to find out "install the 2nd GPU in Slot PCIE-5 to get X16 + X16 & for the settings to appear in the Software. The check boxes you should see to Enable or Disable SLI & other Modes did not appear for me when I installed the 2nd GPU in Slot PCIE-4, not knowing it would not work.
For 2 GPU's it's slot PCIE-2 & 5 to get SLI to work & get settings to appear in the Software, otherwise the settings will not appear.

Pros: I have a review here already & I love the features on this Mobo.
I just wanted to add that I'd love to see a new Mobo just like this one, with the same features for AMD+ FX CPU compliant for use with DDR 4 :)
Other Thoughts: I'm waiting for MSI to have a new Mobo with the same features as this one for AMD FX CPU's & DDR 4 compliance.READ FULL REVIEW
