This review is from: CHAINTECH AV-512 5.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card
Pros: Still working after 9 years! Does what it's suppose to.
Cons: Haven't found any in the 9 years in use.
Other Thoughts: Of course over time, this card gets outdated and will have less and less features compared to newer cards, but this has done its job and is still doing its job since day one. If you can find this card in a junk yard and need it for simple audio applications, grab it!!!READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: LITE-ON Black 52X CD-ROM SATA CD-ROM Drive Model LTN-52S1S-10
Pros: Not as loud as other CD-Roms I've had.
Plays/reads every CD that I've put in it.
Cons: Hasn't made me breakfast yet. I heard that was a feature on these but I guess not. Maybe it was the CD-Burner version.
Other Thoughts: I have had this exactly 5yrs 6mths while my LG DVD-Burner died a while back. LG GH20LS10READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Great VC for its ERA. Played anything I threw at it on HIGH.
Cons: The only con, which I believe is a valid one, is that it only lasted 5 years, while my VC (BFG 4400Ti) from my very first build is still going strong. I just don't get it.
Other Thoughts: Purchased for $290 when it first came out. Lasted 5 years, which means it cost me $58/year to use this 8800GTS.
I expected this VC to last twice as long, even since I haven't even heavily gamed in almost a year!
Went an bought a cheap $50 EVGA GeForce GT620 in the meantime.
Fun Fact: Purchased on the 31st and it died on the 31st. Lifespan: 5yrs 6mths.
Tip: Add 3-4 year (or more) warranty on your VC, if allowed, if you are spending over $250 on it like I did. These things should last longer than 5 years. So when they don't, at least you have warranty.
