Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe 2.5

3 out of 5 eggs Good Drive, Solid Performance in Macbook 13 (black) 11/30/2010

This review is from: Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe 2.5" 180GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MKNSSDCL180GB-DX

Pros: Snappy performance of the native OS. Virtual machines (Windows XP) are much more responsive.

Cons: Price, price, price.

-2 eggs for value: one for price, other for size/capacity.

The only reason this was purchased was because it was with other people's money.

Other Thoughts: Mac OSX 10.5.8
Boot ROM: MB31.008E.B02
SMC Version 1.24f3

Pros: System powered up successfully upon first boot, recognized the new RAM, and has been functioning well 24x7 ever since.

Good value for 8GB RAM. This power-user has yet to have a Mushkin memory chip fail in over 10 years.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Mac Mini 2.26 Core 2 Duo
OS X Snow Leopard
SMC Version: 1.35f1
Boot ROM Version: MM31.00AD.B00

2 out of 5 eggs Good While It Lasted 9 Months... 07/23/2010

This review is from: Netgear ReadyNAS Duo 2-bay NAS Drive Enclosure w/ Gigabit & speeds up to 25MBps (Diskless)

Pros: The unit is built solid, and ran straight for 9 months. At this price point it could be a very high value.

Cons: The enclosure lasted exactly 9 months (purchased from Newegg in October, 2009 and it died last week).

I am crossing my fingers on the warranty status, and if it is not covered I will be very disappointed.

I also noticed that according to the

Other Thoughts: Drives used: 2x Seagate Barracuda ST31500341AS 1.5TB
Network: 1000TX

I routinely used this ReadyNAS for CIFS volumes, Samba Connections, and successfully with Apple Time Machine.

The web interface has good HDD S.M.A.R.T monitoring, but is somewhat clumsy with refreshing.

The ReadyNAS does not support jumbo frames correctly (timeout issues, other strange behavior).
