1 out of 5 eggs Awful support/Bad Product 08/18/2013

This review is from: Thecus N5550 Diskless System NAS Server | Enterprise - Tower

Pros: Hardware is rock solid. There aren't many NAS's you can buy on the market for this price with the hardware that this unit has.

Cons: Hardware is nothing if the software is garbage!
Support is pretty much non existent!
Web UI is buggy!
Every change in the web UI causes a reboot, which means downtime!

Other Thoughts: This device looks good on paper but doesn't function as advertised. It says it integrates with Windows Active Directory but its not reliable. If the device isn't connected to port 1 it will lose connection to Active Directory. Setting folder permissions with Windows ACL doesn't work. So if you are looking to secure files for Windows users stay away from this device. I waited an entire week for support to respond to me and they still were unable to resolve the issue for me. I don't think they really cared in the first place. Also the device was physically defective when I received it so I had to return the unit. I don't think this is a good product to use for power users who want to control access to their data.
