HooToo HT-WR01 Wireless N 300 Mbps 802.11 b/g/n Access Point / Signal Repeater / Range Extender (White)
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Relatively inexpensive.

Cons: User manual assumes the owner is an I-T pro.

Other Thoughts: Initially, I had a lot of frustration trying to set-up the repeater, but once I got help from HooToo's tech support all the issues disappeared and the unit has been working flawlessly.
First let me say I'm a television engineer with four decades experience, so I'm very familiar with electronic equipment and many things technical, but I'm no I-T professional. So this dandy little HooToo device caused me a lot of anxiety. If you have signal strength issues with Wi-Fi, buy this, but don't count on the user manual to set it up. If you can manage to read the itty-bitty "mice type," you will run into several dead ends as you go through the steps. I wasted five hours--no luck. The phone number for tech support is not in the manual; I found it online.
I had the good fortune to reach Larry Ng. He asked me what I had tried, and quickly assessed what went wrong. Larry then told me exactly what to enter into my PC, and voilà!, he had the repeater working within five minutes. After that he patiently explained a few other issues, mainly, why the signal from the repeater indicated "unsecured." We cleared that up, and it was off to the races. A small tablet I use to control my Sonos® system jumped from one bar to four-five.
Larry Ng is a gem! He took his time; I never felt like he was trying to rush me off the line. All through the phone call he repeatedly asked me if I had any more questions, and urged me to call him again any time with new questions or if other issues should arise. After the call, he e-mailed me a summary of what we had done. At the end he wrote, "Please feel free to give me a call or reply to this e-mail if you have any other questions or comments, I am here to help! :)"
What a great attitude!

OCZ StealthXstream II OCZ600SXS2 600W ATX12V v2.2/ EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Does everything I ask of it.
Big fan is virtually silent.
Modular cables.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I selected this PSU for my $1400 HTPC build in June, 2010. I'm running five internal HDDs, a BD drive, i7 CPU and seven fans with no problems so far.
