RAZER Black USB Wired Lycosa Mirror Special Edition Gaming Keyboard
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

2 out of 5 eggs Not worth the frustration 02/02/2012

This review is from: RAZER Black USB Wired Lycosa Mirror Special Edition Gaming Keyboard

Pros: - Looks awesome
- Great for gaming
- USB hub and 3.5mm audio jacks
- Easily switch from backlighting on, off, or WASD only

Cons: - Glitches and driver failure.
- Keys go out at random
- Cause of several irritating glitches program crashes

Other Thoughts: After less than a month, letter, arrow and function keys started to go out at random or endlessly repeat as if the key was indented. After the rebooting my desktop, the keyboard would work for about an hour before the same thing started again. I installed the updated drives from RAZER's site which made the keyboard work for about a month before the process started over. This time my I got a BSOD each time I restarted my desktop, until I unplugged the keyboard. I have never had a BSOD on my desktop before, I am incredibly dissapointed that RAZER would have such poor quility-control behind their product, and the drivers.

TRITTON AX180 Universal Gaming Headset, by Mad Catz
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

2 out of 5 eggs 2 month lifespan 05/30/2011

This review is from: TRITTON AX180 Universal Gaming Headset, by Mad Catz

Pros: - Great sound quality
- Works with everything
- Easy to use

Cons: If you haven't read this already, these things are guaranteed to break. I had my 'first' pair for about two months when I noticed the left headphone felt loose and was beginning to sag. I noticed some hairline cracks in weak plastic tabs that adjust the size of the headphone. No matter how what size or how much space you give the headphone, it would always crack more when you wear it. Still under warranty; I sent it back Tritton and recieved a brand new packaged headphone with all the accessories. For some reason I also receive a second headphone (which would be the third one I had) a week later. Two months passed, and the prossess started all over again. This time I tried a few home remedies, electrical tape, duct tape super glue, none of which seemed to work or make the sagging headphone feel any more comfortable. The second pair broke and the third lasted just as long. I was very dissapointed see that these were very good headphones while they lasted.

Other Thoughts: Willing to give Tritton a second chance, I bought an AX 720 headset which has worked perfectly for me ever since. The contrast in quality between these two headsets from the same manufacturer is really rather surprising.
