Pros: Quick to boot
Ambient color are cool (the ones that work)
Cons: Buzzing from CPU/PCI area
Ambient colors won't set properly
Ram slots take force to get memory seated properly
Other Thoughts: I was able to get the board to work after several attempts. After installing all the drivers for reach component and the utilities for the board I finally wanted to try and modify the ambient colors and get some gaming going. So far I am unable to get the white LEDs work on. White and Yellow look like a washed out green on the board, whereas the rear panel is able to set color properly.
Besides the colors I also get an annoying screech (buzzing) from the board when I am doing anything GPU related. Thinking it's GPU coil whine I tested out 3 different GPUs and 3 PSUs (thought source of whine was due to PSU). Every single GPU/PSU combination produced some whine from the area around cpu closer to the PCI slot. I am very disappointed my wife even notices the noise when I am play games, which in return annoys her
Cons: - Poor quality control
- Small parts not as great quality
- Can be loud at times
Other Thoughts: At first the case was amazing. Has plenty of room and you can easily work inside of it. The problem is longevity. The usb and power panel stopped working after about a year. I submitted an RMA for the part but never received it, it was constantly on back order. Eventually the case started to buzz and I couldn't figure out why. It appears some of the rivets simply started to give out. After about 3 years the LEDs gave out. At year 5 The case would constantly hum and buzz (I replaced fans to ensure it's not them giving out). I used fan rubber mounts with no luck. I finally decided to ditch the case and went for something smaller and less costly. I wanted to love the case but unfortunately the many QA issues just killed it for me.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Great bang for the buck. If you purchase any 7870 you won't regret it. It will run modern games (BF3, Diablo 3, etc) on the highest settings without a problem.
Low cost / high performance
Cons: The card it self has no cons in my opinion.
However, I doubt I'll be buying HIS again. Read on.
I've owned this specific card since July 2012. The fan died on me in Feb and I had to RMA it, I've been without a video card since Feb 18th. I have to say that the RMA process with HIS has been the worst experience I've had. When an RMA is needed you don't go through HIS you go through some third party vendor that lacks completely in communication. I've had to contact them to verify they even received my video card. Once they receive you are informed not to contact them for 2-4 weeks. At this point I have no idea where my replacement is, or when I should even expect one.
I don't understand why a replacement takes 3+ weeks. If HIS wants to hold on to its customers they should starting doing RMA on their own or through someone else.
