Most Favorable Review
Thecus N4100PRO Diskless System NAS Server
Thecus N4100PRO Diskless System NAS Server

Pros: Quiet and small. Works as intended. Did the 1 GB SODIMM upgrade as recommended by many. Get roughly 20 mb/s write and 60-70 mb/s constant read. Good NAS with lots of features for the money.

Cons: Needed to upgrade to beta 5.0 FW to have HD204UI work correctly and not be "failing". This is a problem with 4k sector HDD's. Warning to all: if you intend to use a 4k hdd make sure you upgrade the fw. there is a 5.01.04 finalized fw now that is not in beta. The NAS does run a little hot. It took 4 days 24/7 to format a RAID5 with 4x2TB hdds.

Overall Review: I know it takes awhile to format 8TB worth of storage, especially in a RAID and with such a small form factor PC with an embedded AMD and as such that is OK. just let it run through the full format and it will be fine. Great little box and I am satisfied.

Finally good priced 8GB sticks

Pros: Works well

Cons: None

Overall Review: I built a 1U Xeon based box to run ESXi on a year and a half ago. 8GB ECC sticks were unreasonably priced and so I had to settle for 16GB. Finally was able to upgrade to 32GB and really use the CPU for its power with VM's.

SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 ST2000DL004 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Quiet and run cool. 1.9 TB capacity as shown by Thecus N4100PRO NAS box. Samsung quality. Tend to run colder and faster than WD drives in my experience (HD103SJ runs WAY faster in HDTUNE than my WD Black for example)

Cons: None. Works as advertised and intended.

Overall Review: Satisfied with 4 of these in a RAID5 with my Thecus N4100PRO NAS for 5.1 TB formatted useable space :)
