Beastly AND attractive!
Pros: Blue, different looking, easily the strongest part of my system, runs SC II and Skyrim with ease on Ultra.
Cons: None, maybe the size? Meh, I like huge cards.
Overall Review: Extremely pleased with purchase, will probably crossfire when price drops. Averages 60+ fps in SC II and 30+ in Skyrim, but lets be real here, that's my CPU's fault. My rig, MSI 990FXA-GD80 AMD FX-6100 HIS IceQ 6970 Gskill ripjaws 16GB 1600 9-9-9-24 Crucial M4 128GB SSD Zalman 9900 CPU cooler AZZA Hurrican full tower
Awesome card.
Pros: Fast faster fastest. Running three monitors at 5760x1080. Skyrim and Mechwarrior Online flawlessly. Cool cooler coolest. Idles at about 30c. Never had a card this cool before. Pretty prettier prettiest. Might not matter to most, but the gold "stickers" are actually metal plates with adhesive. It's pretty rad. Still need more? Drivers included let you tweek the settings on your desktop. This card rocks.
Cons: It's big, but no one's ever complained to me about it. See other thoughts.
Overall Review: Okay so I love this card, but getting my monitors running was nothing short of a nightmare. At first it worked really well, but my mouse cursor would the jitters occasionally. Trying to fix that problem opened the gates of Hell. I'll skip the details because none of them can be blamed on the card for sure, but I eventually got everything back to normal, and fixed the mouse stutter by simply switching the mouse to a different USB port on the MOBO. Bottom line, it took some problem solving skills.
Great processor for a great price.
Pros: Price, SUPER easy to OC. Pushed to over 4GHz on air at 45c under load. New technology is refreshing, even if it's not the best available.
Cons: Combined with 990FXA MoBo and Radeon 6970, but no achievement... I feel deceived.
Overall Review: BUY A DECENT FRIGGIN COOLER! Using the stock cooler would be like installing a turbocharger and turning down the boost. IE: a total waste. If OCing seems too complicated, do your research or quit and buy a mac. AMD for the win! Not the best, but buying the best nowadays means bending over and taking it from a certain company. Have fun with that when you can't comfortably sit down in a few years.
Easily the best MoBo out there for an AMD machine.
Pros: Gorgeous, functional, onboard CPU temp monitor, USB 2.0/3.0 everywhere, 4x PCI-E x16!!!! It's blue, it's really really blue.
Cons: Bios likes to set everything to "Auto" without any indication of what anything is actually set to. Auto works well enough but it made setting my memory timings a pain. Also, combined with FX-6100 and Radeon 6970, but still haven't unlocked the Scorpius achievement. :(
Overall Review: This board was super easy to work with. Booted right up with my AM3+ CPU with zero issue. Will likely buy from MSI in the future. My rig: This board, duh. FX 6100 with Zalman 9900 cooler HIS Ice Q 6970 Gskill Ripjaws 16GB 4x4 1600 9-9-9-24 Crucial 128GB SSD Kingwin 1000w PSU AZZA Hurrican full tower
Meh, worth the purchase...
Pros: Price, 16GB set, pretty and blue.
Cons: Difficult to set properly on AMD platform, but doable. Loses an egg for favoring Intel. Deal with it.
Overall Review: Great memory for a great price, couldn't get it to run at advertised voltage AND advertised speed, so I have it set to 1.5v and I'm happy. I wouldn't recommend this set to anyone buying an MSI 990FXA-GD80. The bios likes to set everything as auto not telling you what that means. I consider myself fortunate to have, as far as I can tell, properly adjusted my CPU-NB voltage. Good luck guys.
It's friggin HUGE!!!
Pros: Massive case, fans everywhere, comes in blue or red, USB 3.0, 2.5" slots for SSD, easy on the eyes, list goes on...
Cons: Fans, while plentiful, are pretty weak, not worth an egg though, because the case itself is built for airflow. 230mm fans? Really? *thinks angry thoughts*
Overall Review: Buy this case, DO IT!!!! Fits my HIS Ice Q 6970 and my huge Zalman 9900 CPU cooler with plenty of breathing room. I also recommend this case to anyone looking at an MSI 990FXA-GD80, as the window lines right up with the onboard CPU temp monitor. I'll be investing in some better fans eventually, but this thing keeps my FX-6100 idling at 35c as is.
