ASUS Radeon HD 6970 DirectX 11 EAH6970 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: I mainly play BC2 and BF3 so I set the video default to high. Play is smooth but I keep forgetting to check the frame rate because fun seems to take over.

Cons: Ran hot at 63c and took a long time to cool down until I changed the setting in ASUS Doctor software to have the fans cycle up based on 4 settings. It can still get up to 61c.

Other Thoughts: Fans at the lowest settings will hold it at 43c with the ambient temp in my room at 69f. I have an Antec P180 case with 2 exaust fans and 1 input fan. I had to remove the middle drive bay to accomodate the large card. So both HDs and power supply are in the lower isolated section of the case. So the heat sources cooled by the case fans are the DVD, CPU, Memory, Motherboad and video card. Noise is not an issue for me because I always use a headset. i7920 CPU, ASRock X58 Extreme LGA 1366 MB.

Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield Quad-Core 2.66 GHz LGA 1366 130W BX80601920 Processor

Pros: LGA 1366 socket continues the trend of not having the pins on the CPU which makes installation fool proof. Plenty of reserve processing power. I downloaded a 2gig file and tried everything to get it to slow down without success. That is a good thing.

Cons: poor stock cooler

Other Thoughts: Pricy, but not for the performance price point. I did not like the stock cooler because of its small footprint on the CPU so I went with the Akasa Nero.

5 out of 5 eggs X58 motherboard by ASRock 09/08/2009

This review is from: ASRock X58 Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Very easy install. This was just a hardware upgrade so I just booted up from my existing OS drive. It recognized new hardware so I installed from the supplied CD and all worked fine except my TV tuner in the first PCI slot. Windows says the card is there and working fine so I know it is not a problem with the mb. The sound is better than with my old sound card. There was plenty of room for the large after market cooler. The features available at this price is awesome.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: System includes PC Power 610 watt PSU. Akasa Nero CPU cooler, GSkill Tri Chan. memory, GForce 8800 GT+, 6 USB devices, 2 hard drives, TV tuner PCI card, Antec mid tower with 3 120mm fans. I have yet to start the overclocking process.
