5 out of 5 eggs Excellent card but so-so software 09/06/2016

This review is from: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 G1 Gaming GV-N1080G1 GAMING-8GD Video Card

Pros: - Runs cool under load. I've been playing a lot of Ark Survival with Epic settings and the card never gets above 65c and I get anywhere from 40-60fps on a 1080p monitor. I also play BF4, Battlefront, and Mechwarrior Online all at max settings and the card just chews through those games.
-Quiet fans. The fans don't kick in until around 50c and I can barely hear them. No coil whine that others have mentioned.

Cons: - The Gigabyte OC utilities leave a lot to be desired. I can't get OSD to work on any game and it doesn't look like it supports LCD displays on keyboards or game pads. I use a Logitech G13 and I can't get any stats to display.
- What's the deal with the price? As of this writing the card is going for over $900 but I got mine for $649.

Other Thoughts: - Despite the iffy software this is an excellent card and well worth the $649 I paid but I wouldn't pay over $900 for it. It is a bit large, about an inch longer than the GTX 760 I had before but stiff fits easily in my Enermax case. I still give it 5 eggs because the software can always be improved to work similar to MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X.

Pros: Very bright. Crisp images. Very good color. I use it to play FPS games like BF4 and CS:GO and notice no issues with the 60hz refresh rate or 5ms response time. No dead pixels either. Have it connected to an EVGA 760 GTX 4GB card.

Cons: Tried the Display port first because the cable was like 2 feet longer than the DVI to HDMI cable but the image was lousy. No amount of adjusting could correct it. As stated, the DVi to HDMI cable is very short so I had to rearrange my desk to compensate. I ordered a 10' cable from Newegg for about $12 so it's no big deal.

Other Thoughts: Asus, please lengthen the DVI/HDMI cable to at least equal the Display port cable!! :)
