Pros: Great sound if you can get it to work with the drivers provided and a lot of experimentation. Comes with a lot of cables for multiple connections. Ports light up via colored LEDs so you can make connections without having to dig behind your PC.
Cons: Drivers and support is just bad. Windows 7 has been out for a few months now and they still only have beta drivers available that cause many problems.
Other Thoughts: I too walked away from Creative products due to the cost and poor materials used (gone through 3 high end cards in just over a year) but at least they worked out of the box. Don't get this card unless you understand how audio works in windows and have some time to spend playing with all the settings. This is not a plug and play type card but it does sound good.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Worked out of the box with the drivers on the CD for WIN7 64 bit. Insane sound, PCI card doesn't require additional power cable like PCI-X does. (My graphics card covers my PCI-X slots so I had to go PCI)
Cons: Like most others said, instructions are worthless but once you get this thing set up the sound is amazing. This replaced an X-FI extreme music on Win7 64 bit. Still not getting better than stereo out of optical cable but I'm sure I'm missing one of the kabillion adjustments this card has.
Other Thoughts: Great sound but it takes a lot of tweaking to get it to work properly. Great jump from my X-fi card.
Worked better using the vista 64 drivers on the disk. When I tried to install the beta win7 drivers from the Asus site it resulted in BSOD and follow on problems. Removed beta drivers and rolled back to vista64 drivers and all is well again.
Pros: Bought two of these and maxed my old system out at 4 GB running windows 7 64 bit. Just awesome, especially with the price. Saved me from buying a whole new computer just because everything is DDR2 now.
Cons: Just a tad slower than my old Corsair XXL but I also paid four times as much for that stuff years ago.
Other Thoughts: Thanks OCZ for making DDR memory and keeping my ld system going strong.READ FULL REVIEW
