This review is from: Epson WorkForce WF-3640 Inkjet Multifunction Printer - Color - Photo Print - Desktop
Pros: Works well as an inexpensive business printer and scanner. The majority of what I print is emails and notes related to my software development activities so high quality images isn't the goal. The printer this one replaced was a similar HP. Things this printer does better are
1) Scans from the sheet feeder are usually straight. The HP was never straight. It was mis-calibrated from the factory.
2) Printing from the bottom tray works. The bottom tray on the HP made a better storage compartment than a paper tray.
3) Envelope/rear paper feed. While limited, the HP had none.
4) It hasn't failed yet. I've owned it for over a year.
Cons: Color is always streaky. Most of my printing is black and white so it hasn't been too annoying but when I print color images it would be nice if they weren't full of streaks. I also wonder what kind of damage this is doing to the print head. Turning up the color quality and cleaning the print head helps but using tons of ink for most of what I print just isn't worth it.
It always displays low ink and the yellow LED is constantly flashing because of it. The sensor is so far up on the ink tank that the printer thinks the ink is low for most of the life of each ink cartridge.
Other Thoughts: People say Epson's use lots of ink and the ink is expensive. My answer to that is not to purchase an printer designed for high quality images so you can print general business related items. I paid $100.00 for this printer. For the price it has been quite the work horse.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Charge port.
Cons: It says USB 3 but the throughput from my USB 3 hard drive is only half that as compared to when the HD is connected directly to the computer. It's faster than USB 2 but definately not USB 3 in performance.
If manufacturers were honest with consumers could they stay in business?
Pros: charging port for smartphone
Cons: Careful. This unit looks identical to the HooToo hub that I purchased. While it says USB 3 and is compatible, my USB 3 hard drive runs at half the throughput when connected to my HooToo device compared to directly connected to the computer. It's faster than USB 2 but not USB 3 speeds.READ FULL REVIEW
