This review is from: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (Full Version) - Download
Pros: None - as delivered by Newegg this is useless if you want to install to a new PC, Mac hardware or virtual machine UNLESS you have a Windows 7 or higher machine handy to supposedly make an ISO.
Cons: Your download will be Windows 8.1 UPDATER and not the full version of Windows. You are supposed to be able to make an ISO IF you have a Win 7+ machine but I have not been able to test making ISO as I do not have a compatible Windows machine. THIS IS NOT A FULL PRODUCT THAT YOU WILL DOWNLOAD,
Other Thoughts: I have complained to Newegg about this. I have paid for a product that I cannot receive. Nowhere on this product listing does it state the conditions for receiving the file and then getting the product. In my opinion it is their responsibility to deliver what I have paid for in good faith - A FULL VERSION OF WINDOWS 8.1. If there is a satisfactory resolution I will update this review.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Nice enclosure dissipates heat well.
Drive seems responsive when running.
Cons: TERRIBLE socket for the data cable on the back of this drive. When first opened I thought it was DOA but a little wiggling and extra pressure on the data cable at the drive end soon shows that it just has a lousy connection. The drive does not spin up until the data cable is connected correctly.
Totally unacceptable as you barely have to move the drive and it loses connection. Foolishly, I waited more than a month to open it so now no RMA. It is now relegated to a backup drive on the network with the cable kept in place with duct tape.
File this one under "how to totally screw up a great product for the sake of a lousy 5c plug"
Other Thoughts: I am VERY disappointed with this item. It does not do NewEgg or Lacie any favors to sell this kind of stuff with clearly such poor quality control.
I have a 4TB 2big Thunderbolt and was expecting the same build quality I experienced with that, and while it is a nice enclosure the sloppy assembly of the small amount of electronics needed for the interface makes this a complete waste of time. I was thinking of getting two originally but now I will have to seriously rethink.
