5 out of 5 eggs Good External HD 03/30/2012

This review is from: WD Elements 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive

Pros: Great Price and Rock Solid for over 1 1/5 years I have 4 ranging in age from 1y9m to 1y, Have had nos issues with any

Cons: Floods in Thailand made them more expensive

Pros: Does what it should. For what it is, it is well made and works. It always stays cool and I personally like the emsh construction. Have purchased and used both PATA and SATA versions repeatedly w/o problem. Gave old one away with drives while still working flawlessly. With my machines at least; I have never had to use the Y USB for power; just a standard 5-pin USB A-MiniB

Cons: Those microscopic screws are a pain; but hopefully only once per drive.

Other Thoughts: Thanks to Newegg for carrying. Recommend EagleTech products in general and Newegg is always 1st stop when I need something. I keep looking elsewhere for better Prices and CS; but rarely find it.

Hitachi GST 0A57546 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Great Price point, Capacity

Cons: Hitachi PPLLEEEAASSEEE! Forget the TURBO Mode. 10 "Delayed Write Failure"s in three days. All to $MFT. Removed and all problems disappeared. To add insult to injury, drive doesn't seem any slower. I am certain the TurboHD for USB is little more than a cache; but seems to have a few bugs, use at your peril
