Link Depot LD-MSD-XD Micro SD to xD Card Adaptor

1 out of 5 eggs Does not work 12/25/2012

This review is from: Link Depot LD-MSD-XD Micro SD to xD Card Adaptor

Pros: It was a cheap expirement?

Cons: I figured that the xD format would be universal, but apparently there are variations on the xD format.. Thanks Olympus... So this adapter did not work with either a 2GB or an 8GB microSD card i had laying around, in an older Olympus X-42 point-and-shoot.

The camera accepted the adapter with sd inside just fine and dandy, and i even formatted each card to fat32 just in case, and the camera simply said "Clean contacts or format card". No amount of messing with it could get it to work. I don't have an old xD card laying around so i can't say anything about the contacts layout, but it doesn't look abnormal to me.

It was a cheap experiment, not the end of the world.

Other Thoughts: Apparently Olympus has a list of cameras that will accept that adapter. Out of the 10k cameras they have made in the last 10 years, about 10 of them are compatible. The X-42 is not one of them.

Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Broadband Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g

  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: it does what is advertised on the box. great router if you are in to plug and play, and don't care about firmware flashing, removable antennas, or other features that made the older wrt54g cool.

Cons: Non-flashable after revision 5, and this one is revision 8. It also doesn't have removable antennas, which is a huge irritation. You can't flash it to boost power, you can't change antennas to improve gain. Overall, hugely dissapointed in the crippling of this once great product.

Other Thoughts: get the GL model and make sure it has removable antennas. This one is a waste of time unless its for grandma in her 1 bedroom house.
