Great Printer for home or small office
Pros: This is the follow on model to the Lexmark e260dn and have it set up as my home office printer and services my families Mac, Windows, and Ubuntu computers. A few observations: Fast startup when going from hibernation (low power) mode to print. Duplex mode is fast as well. No paper jams and easy setup.
Cons: The printer is slightly noisier than the e260dn, but not by much. Like most laser printers, the refills are almost half the cost of the printer, though I have had great success on third part refills.
Overall Review: A previous user complained about getting the printer set up with a static IP address for use as a network printer. It's easy: After plugging the printer in, and hooking up the network cable, the printer will print a test page which will contain the IP address that it got from your network. Go to your computer (which is connected to the same network) and access the printer using the IP address the printer printed. There you can configure the Static IP address and other administrative functions. You can set an admin password for the printer as well. Remember, after you set the static ip address, you'll need to use that new address to access the printers admin page.
Decent board, but be careful
Pros: Nice layout, excellent manual, the BIOS configuration is straight forward to use and nicely laid out.
Cons: After running for about a month, the board suddenly stopped working. No video output, reset button wouldn't work, keyboard failed to light. I thought I was looking at an RMA for a bad board. On a whim, I decided to reset the CMOS jumper and that cleared the problem. I have no idea why it happened since the configuration had been running unchanged for almost a month.
Overall Review: Currently have Windows 8 installed (not by choice).
Going Strong
Pros: Using this in a software RAID 1 configuration with Linux. Going strong after a month, so no problems.
Cons: None, though I look forward to hard drive prices falling in line to where they were a couple of years ago.
They work like they should
Pros: Bought two and they have been running in a RAID 1 configuration on my Ubuntu 10.04 desktop without a problem. Compared to my old 250G drives, these run ice cold at 85F even during a full RAID synchronization. Only time will tell, but so far quite pleased.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: I went with the free Newegg shipping and even though the package shipped from Tenn to NC, it took six days with UPS. The worst part was I would have gotten it earlier but UPS forgot to load it on the truck during one delivery cycle and skipped a day. Quite pleased with Neweggs packaging of the drives which is always a concern when shipping hard drives.
Nice Case
Pros: I bought this case as a file server since it had room to comfortably fit four-drives. I moved the 120mm fan to the front to keep the drives cool. As an example, without the fan running, the SMART utilities were reporting 135F on the drives, with 120mm fan running, I was getting the temperature down to 102F under load.
Cons: The fan is a bit loud, but not bothersome. The light for the power indicator is blue, I would have preferred green, but that's just me.
Overall Review: For the money, it's a excellent quality case. I was pleasantly surprised. You won't be sorry
Works Great
Pros: I've had this for almost a year. The laptop pretty much stays on all the time, and I've never had a problem with the drive. The drive is quiet as well.
Cons: No complaints
