Micro Connectors M.2 NVMe 80mm SSD PCIe x4 Adapter with Covered Heat Sink Model PCIE-M20803HS

Pros: Easy to assemble. Not much to it if you know your way around PC components.

Cons: Instructions could be clearer but they work.

Overall Review: Worth the money.

Maximus NVME Upgrade

WD Black NVMe M.2 2280 500GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) WDS500G2X0C
WD Black NVMe M.2 2280 500GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) WDS500G2X0C

Pros: Easy to install on a PCIE NVME adapter. Fast when compared to any SATA SSD or HDD. Able to completely start Windows10 in under 15 seconds and this is on a PCIE 2.0 motherboard. Well worth the investment. By the way there is a hot fix for Windows 7 that will allow you to use NVME devices. I know because I have two operating systems on my rig; WIndows 7 and 10. If your BIOS does not allow you to boot from a NVME it does not mean that the NVME will not work. First see if the motherboard can see the NVME when it is plugged into a PCIE slot with a PCIE adapter. If the board and OS can see the NVME then your motherboard BIOS can be flashed with an edited BIOS that supports NVME for boot up. Hope this helps anyone with concerns about running a legacy motherboard.

Cons: None so far but I am only on month one.

Overall Review: If anyone tells you that older boards like the ASUS Maximus IV GENE-Z can't run an NVME over PCIE they are wrong. All I needed was an OS that can support NVME and a board that can have it's BIOS modified to support NVME. Easy as pie.

New build for an ASUS desktop.

Windows 10 Home - Full Version (32 & 64-bit) / USB Flash Drive
Windows 10 Home - Full Version (32 & 64-bit) / USB Flash Drive

Pros: When Microsoft first came out with the free upgrade I was one of those millions of people that believed my system could handle Windows10 as an upgrade even though all of my hardware was well above the minimum requirements. Luckily, I was able to roll back my system to Windows 7. Finally, I decided to update my motherboard to an Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z using a PCIE NVME interface. Windows 10 starts up in under 15 seconds with everything that I have running. Very stable versus the WIndows 7 to 10 upgrade. Works great so far.

Cons: Microsoft has thrown in a lot of extras to track how you use your system which I shut down and I recommend that you do the same unless you don't care about data mining. Windows 10 has a lot of features geared towards mobile computing; I wish you could select whether you are installing the OS on a desktop system versus a mobile system so that certain features would automatically be disabled.

Overall Review: Microsoft still has more work to do if they plan on making this their last Windows OS with newer versions to be rolled out on top of it. Go on YouTube.com and look up all the videos in regards to privacy settings and what not if you are new to this OS.
