ASUS Z87-A LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Great concept of features IF IT WORKED

Cons: This board is just plain garbage. I am now on my third RMA. First board died after 3 weeks. Second board was SHIPPED damaged. This third board was brand new from the factory. I had waited to use it (since their RMA process takes so long, I replaced the board in my main rig after the second RMA began) so it sat for a few months. I went to build a rig with it this afternoon. The board comes back with the same issue as the original. The CPU LED is on. I guess I will be talking with ASUS again tomorrow. That may have just lost a long time customer with this shameful quality. I honestly do not even want another z87-a.

Pros: If this motherboard worked for any extended period of time, it seemed to have a decent amount of features for the price.

Cons: I had issues with this board from day 1. I purchased it in July of 2013. Out of the box I had to update bios (not out of the ordinary i guess) and had to struggle with it, playing with the MEM_OK button, until it started to POST(and for all you cynics, yes my ram was fine). It finally ran OK for a few months, until it randomly up and died. The VGA_LED was on and it would not POST. I pursued a claim with ASUS. After I paid to ship it to them, patiently waited 7 business days, and then waited for them to ship it back, it arrived dead as a doorknob; it had bent and missing pins (I KNOW it was not sent in that state). I now have to take up another claim with asus which will take even LONGER according to their management.

Other Thoughts: I hope that other, higher end, boards do not have this type of quality issues. As for now I will be switching to another manufacturer's products for my motherboard needs.
