Solid Great Machine
Pros: Strong aluminium casing, strong Chiclet style keyboard -- no flex, two USB3 ports, 2 USB2 ports, 1w/power. DVD player is good, touch pad is fantastically smooth and nice size. Decent sound, all and all a great business/power-user machine.
Cons: Rather heavy, but it is manageable. After all, it looks like it was machined out of a block of billet aluminum!
Overall Review: This is one good looking machine. There are only two things that I did; 1) replaced the HDD w/SSD and; 2 upgraded memory to 8GB
Nice Board for the Price
Pros: Good layout, Z68 chipset w/Intel's SRT SSD caching, price considering many other boards can cost 20-30 percent more. I like the black facade compared to Gigabyte's blue, and it has on board video with the ability to still have CrossFireX, SLI, and Virtu support.
Cons: Where are all the USB 3.0 ports? Gigabyte has been the front runner when it comes to USB 3.0. Another downside (for some) will be overclocking capabilities. Most will not mind, but then again this board is not intended for massive overclocking due to its lack of voltage-regulation modules (VRMs).
Overall Review: All in all a decent board. There have been claims regarding the Etron EJ168 USB 3.0 chip due to its sporadic BSOD's and failures to boot Windows. I have witnessed this a few times, but it seemed more of a software (driver) issue regarding some legacy hardware. Once I updated the driver, the BSOD stopped.
Tough as Nails Flash Drive
Pros: USB 3.0 heavy duty mate black high quality (could not use a colorful metaphor) piece of machinery. I work as an IT professional in industrial atmospheres (plants, factories, construction) and this does the job. I was afraid that it may to be large considering that I use an Ultrabook (Dell XPS), but it plugs right in without a problem. Speed is decent for a 32gig flash drive -- I avg around 20MB+. All and all not bad based on ruggedness, speed, and portability.
Cons: I really don't have any. The fact that it comes straight out of the packing without any bloatware (factory security junk (could not use colorful metaphor) -- it is indeed a nice product.
Overall Review: If you need a reliable, tough as nails product -- this is it!
Top of the Line
Pros: Lets start by the fact that this is a 13.3 inch screen in a 12 inch body. The screen is wrapped in Gorilla Glass with hardly no bezel -- hence how they were able to crunch this into a smaller frame. A mix of carbon fiber, aluminum, and magnesium make up the structure of this beauty. The touchpad is glass and there are rubber strips that go along the entire length of the bottom to prevent slippage and scratches to the carbon. The keyboard is back-lit and responsive and the keys are spaced nicely via a chicklet style. I will not get into the specs considering they are provided. This is one of the nicest Ultrabooks I used, and I used quite a few such as the Zenbook, and the Folio. The build quality is fantastic, and it looks very professional aka not a lot of "bling". One more thing. . . it has a little button on the right next to the USB 3.0 port that allows you to check battery power without opening it up -- pretty cool.
Cons: Some of the problems I have with this unit is that it does not come with a USB to Ethernet converter, nor a mini display port to VGA -- the Zenbook comes with these. Since the keyboard area is black, it gets dirty and ugly quick, and there is some glare due to the Gorilla Glass. Other than that, It is a very nice machine.
Very Nice for the Price
Pros: I have this CPU cooler running on my AMD FX 8150 that is overclocked to nice and stable 4.5GHz. Stress testing via Prime95 kept a cool 60-65c at 100% for a good hour. The reason I got this was because the stock cooler could not keep up and I wanted to mess with this processor. The quality is very good for the price and the radiator is nice and thick, and the two fans keep the air flowing. I have this in a NZXT H2 case (very nice case by the way) and there is plenty of room even with an additional 140mm fan (mounted on the top of the case). The hoses are nice and flexible with no kinks. I find this very nice considering the Corsair closed loop systems are stiff and hard to manage in smaller mid-tower cases. I hardly hear the fans running, but this could be due to the NXZT H2 case which is designed to reduce noise. All and all a great product!
Cons: I really have no complaints with this setup. The install is quick and easy and the instructions are easy to understand.
Very Nice Mouse, I mean Rat
Pros: Fully adjustable/customizable, feature rich (decent software), fast, and has external add-ons such as a pinkey finger plate to avoid pinky drag. It has a solid build and it is not just for gamers. Anyone that uses a computer full-time needs a nice mouse. this is not your grandmothers mouse!
Cons: The R.A.T. 7 has a stiff cord and could be a nuisance for some people. The mouse is sensitive to ESD due to a metal hex screw that your thumb touches resulting in the mouse to stop moving for a few seconds. The weight (even without the weight rings) may be to much for some people. The surface must be super clean. Even the smallest amount of dust/dirt can make the mouse mis-function
Overall Review: If you are a serious gamer or work at a PC all day this is a great mouse. I used to use Logitech, but I have a hard time wanting to go back after using this mouse.
