Impressive Performance
Pros: Unbeatable price for the performance. Processor is based on new Phenom II core. Lots of head room to overclock. Clock-for-clock better performance than previous X2 versions. Runs cool. Overclocked processor to 3.1Ghz with stock voltage and air-cooled. Burn-in test for over 10 hours without a glitch. I am certain that upping the voltage and slightly better cooling you can get this near 4Ghz.
Cons: It is not a quad-core.
Overall Review: If you are in the market for a dual-core processor, it is hard to beat the value here! Highly recommended.
Seagate Should do Better
Pros: Good capacity for the price. After getting drive to work, it performs quite well. Silent enough that it can't really be heard over case fan noise once installed inside case.
Cons: Had the drive worked without having to upgrade firmware I would have scored it higher. However, the drive suffered from a firmware issue that made it inoperable. I did not find out about this until after I had purchased the drive. Drive would bomb out randomly when trying to install OS. I almost returned drive to Newegg but discovered there was a firmware fix. Applied fix and drive worked, however, this is the first time in 15 years working in the PC hardware industry that I have had to flash firmware to make drive work. It is unacceptable for Seagate to ship out drives with such a glaring fault, especially considering that Seagate is a major player in the industry. Updating the firmware in order to get drive to work is not something the customer should need to do. Seagate needs to do better.
Suprisingly Decent
Pros: The case has very excellent cooling properties. The huge 200mm fan on top is unique and very effective. There is plenty of room inside for standard size motherboards. Also, Antec provided some cable management slots and accessories to tuck aware cable clutter. I also like the fact that it is steel construction because the case is sturdy. Surprisingly silent even with the four included fans.
Cons: No tool-less option installing drives or expansion cards. Unnecessarily difficult to install components, although not extraordinarily difficult. The drive bay shield plates tend to shift too easy so you have to be careful when carrying or handling case as the shield plates may get pushed in. It is heavier than an aluminum alloy case.
Overall Review: Aesthetically I am not a big fan of how the case slopes up at the top. Just looks out of place.
Just Fine
Pros: These hard drives are good, solid drives. No stellar performance, but for the money they offer excellent value and quality. The five year warranty is also nice.
Cons: One curious feature is that these drives come with a jumper that limits the drive to 1.5Gbps versus the 3Gbps that it is capable of. You can easily remove the jumper, but I can't think of a reason why this would be limited by default.
Very Pleased
Pros: Although a recertified card, it was clean, came with VIVO cables, DVI to VGA adapters, driver disc, and manual all in a neat EVGA box and packaging. It was as if it were new. Worked flawlessly.
Cons: None at this time.
Overall Review: I was impressed with the condition of this recertified card. I expected something less, but got very much more. In SLI mode card works like a charm with my other 7800GT. Great bang for the buck.
