ASUS GeForce 8400 GS 8400GS-SL-1GD3-L 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Video Card
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Cheap dual display card.

Cons: Huge heat sink may cause fit problems.

Other Thoughts: Had to trim a couple of fins off the heat sink with a Dremel tool to make it fit in a Dell Optiplex 7XX series box. Not a big deal. Any passive cooling card is going to have a big heat sink. It's not going to fit every box.

1 out of 5 eggs Stopped working after one day 03/14/2012

This review is from: LACIE 301506 2TB d2 Network 2 Professional Storage Server

Pros: Nice design, looks like they put a lot of effort into the management interface. Sturdy all-metal case.

Cons: Stopped responding after a day. Web admin hangs at log in. Shares can't be accessed. The provided network setup utility can't find the box. Tech support is baffled. Fantastic. I think my data is toast.

Other Thoughts: LaCie spent way too much time making this thing look cool, and not nearly enough making sure it would work. Moral: if you need NAS, buy Synology. Everyone else is second rate or worse.

Pros: It's cheap and it works!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Works great in my '09 Mac Mini. Probably fine for late model PowerBooks, too.
