Good choice for gaming pc
Pros: The two things I do with my pc is play games and surf the web. I also download and stream different types of media. I have had no issues whatsoever with this cpu. I have a 1080p monitor and most games play at or above 60fps. The lowest Battle field 3 has ever droped was 45fps. My computer is fast and responsive. I don't see the need to spend extra money on intel processors. My brother has an intel based cpu and a simular build. I simply can not see the difference in the two. I am not saying this processor is better than intel, but it is just as good as intel when it comes to video games. Save your money and buy a better video card. you will see much better results.
Cons: I was unable to get my cpu to overclock half as well as others. My processor is at 4.5 and I am pushing 1.45 volts. I don't know if its the motherboard or just a below average chip. Not taking an egg off because overclocking results are not gauranteed, and cpu performs well anyway.
Overall Review: this chip asus crosshair v MB 8gb corsair dominator gt at 2133mhz reference hd 6970 corsair 1200 watt power supply samsung 820 256gb ssd liquid cooled MB ram and cpu Will get two 7970's two finish to replace the 6970
The Honeymoon is over
Pros: THis is an update to a previous review. This thing is really fast when it is working. Once you have an ssd it is hard to imagine your computer without it.
Cons: Unfortunately I am now without my SSD. It was officialy pronouned dead at aproximately 5pm on 04/07. And I could have sworn it was trying to take my entire system down with it.
Overall Review: I am not sure what caused the problem and if it could have been avoided. It was working so well in the begining and now..... I will update anyone who is interested pending the results and the details of OCZ RMA process.
Nice
Pros: Looks good, The card is well built and sturdy. The cooler is much quieter than reference design. The card averages 68c in crysis 3. Plays most games at max settings with frame rates at or above 60fps. Card is long, but it is not thick and can easily be cross fired. Pc mark 7333 in firestrike bench.
Cons: The card is long and will not fit in many cases thanks to the extra long cooler. FPS hang in the 20's very often when playing crysis 3 with all settings maxed out. This seems to be average for most high end cards, crysis is a beast, and can easily compensated for by turning off AA.
Overall Review: I was able to overclock my card to 1175 core and 1500 memory on air. The core voltage is 1184 and the memory voltage is 1600. I have not been able to hit 1200 but I am sure that I could if I increased my voltage to 1250. I will see if I can get a Waterblock that can fit this card, then I will be more aggressive with my overclocks. AMD fx8350 Asus Crosshair V formula-z Corsair Dominator gt ram Corsair ax-1200 power supply this card Creative x-fi titanium hd soundcard samsung 840 pro 256gb ssd 3tb Seagate hard drive custom watercooled loop that inclueds waterblocks for the Motherboard, CPU and RAM.
mixed feelings
Pros: Plenty of features including the fan expert II, which is the best fan controller I have worked with. A program that restarts the computer and takes it directly to bios. They have replaced the old pci slot for a pci expres x1 slot. More sata 3 connections. A built in sound card. There are full cover water blocks available for this board also. In additon to this the board looks good, as all ROG boards do.
Cons: I already owned an asus crosshair v formula board. I bought this board for my brother's build. I decided that I would keep this board for myself and give my old board to my brother. That was a mistake. This board does not allow me to overclock as well. My ram cannot hit 2133 as it did on my previous board, and I cannot overclock above 4.6. I have not put more than 1.5 volts into my overclock, but I don't see the need if I am struggling for a 4.7 overclock. My asus crosshair v board could hit 4.7 with a little under 1.5 volts. I did not take off an egg because overclocking results are never guaranteed. Everything runs hotter on this board also. I have remounted my cpu just to be sure. My temps are not as good as they were on the original crosshair V. Downloading drivers from asus site sucks. It should not be that difficult.
Overall Review: Its a nice board. I wish I stuck to my old board, but Its still nice. So often when you are dealing with Motherboards, and there is a problem it is difficult to isolate what the real issue is. Is it the board, programs, or some device attached to the board or Operator error. Sometimes its a combination of things. In the end the things that are most important to me when it comes to Motherboards are features and overclockability. Although my previous board seemed more overclockable, a 4.6 stable overclock is exceptable. More importantly all of the new features and the extra pci express slot will also help. I would recommend this board.
Almost
Pros: Huge case with plenty of room for Water cooling. I have 4 radiators in the case an XSPC rx360 at the top. 2 XSPC ex140's and a black ice gtx extreme 240mm rad at the bottom. The case can still accomidate long videocards and power supplies. The Hugh lighting system is a wonderul touch. Its just enough lighting for people to take notice without going overboard. No need for led fans or lights whith this built in system. the removable filters in the bottom and filters on the front panel and the front intake fan help to ensure a dust free computer. Plenty of space to hide wires behind the motherboard and plenty of gromits to reroute wires makes this case a pleasure to build in.
Cons: The front panel door does not open all the way and I am afraid that it will break. I went through two front panel doors on the original Phantom I had a hard time placing the XSPC rx 360 into my build. The radiator mounted with no problems, but I could not get the compression fittings onto the rad because the io shield cutout was in the way. When I turned the radiator to the other side there was a metal panel blocking me from installing the fittings. I wound up cutting the panel out since I could see not use for it. I would not have had an issue if my radiator were not so thick or if the inlet nozzles were spaced further away from the edge of the radiator. Difficult to take off the front panel. as apposed to the original which would come off to easily. One of the lights failed on my case. I will not take off an egg for this because I am not sure if it was my fault. Window for the side panel is too small because of the useless side panel.
Overall Review: I absolutely love this case. It looks good and It is good for Water cooling. I am a little disappointed that you can not put 3x140mm rads on the top like you can with the NZXT switch, but I love this case and I love the look. I was told that we can put the Switch side panel on this case. I would love the opportunity to buy it, but I have yet to see it for sale.
Works well for AMD
Pros: This ram runs at 2133 speed when using an amd fx 8150 and an asus 990fx motherboard. I had to set up the proper timings and set the ram to 2133 but you only need to do that once. This ram is very easy to water cool, because you don't have to take off the entire heat sink, merely unscrew the top of the heat sink off. Several companies make water blocks specifically for the Dominator line.
Cons: none
Overall Review: I was very disappointing with how long it took for my ram to get to me. I payed 3 dollars extra for rush shipping and it still took 3 days for them to ship my ram. They were packaging the ram for two days?!?! That's not corsair's fault though.
