Good while it lasted
Pros: The drive was simple to install, worked right out of the box, fit with relatively little tinkering into my case, and was nice and speedy. Initial Windows install went in under 10 minutes
Cons: And it died on me last night. I thought it might just be a Windows Update screwup, but not even bios sees it. It's dead, Jim.
Problems right out of the box
Pros: Shipping was phenomenally fast
Cons: Straight out of the box it doesn't work. I plugged it in as soon as I got home today. Looks like it may have had a bit of a rough shipment, the plastic chassis is chipped and the 'faulty wiring' light is pushed into the case. However, the real issue is that it won't charge, or it won't admit to charging. If I turn it on not plugged in to power, it works fine and powers my computer, if I plug it into my step down converter/voltage regulator (local voltage is a very unreliable 220, hence needing a ups in the first place), it flips out - constant beeping, the display selection button doesn't work, and no power is provided to the outputs. Plugging it in after I've turned on the unit registers that there is power coming in, though at wildly fluctuating voltage, when the regulator says that it's stable (and this is on several regulators, I have them throughout the house because of the bad local power). The 'faulty wiring' light, once I found it fallen back into the case itself, is glowing red, though I've had the electricians check the wiring several times at my house, and the power has been stable since I got home. At 26 pounds it will be a pain to ship back so I may see if one of the local electricians has any idea. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Suggestions?
