Worth every penny!

D-Link DGS-2208 Unmanaged 8-Port Desktop Green Ethernet Switch
D-Link DGS-2208 Unmanaged 8-Port Desktop Green Ethernet Switch

Pros: DON'T HESITATE, BUY! I was concerned I was wasting my money but what a difference this switch made. I'll let the numbers do the talking. Transferred 208mb file before with a 10/100 switch and after with the D-Link 2208. I ran each 4 times to cover hiccups in the network traffic. These figures are based on Windows 7 transfer window -10/100 switch : 9.5mb sec average (21secs total) - D-Link 1 Gig switch: 40.5mb sec avg (4 secs approx) Basically FAST! I should have tried a bigger file but I was more than satisfied to care.

Cons: If I had to pick something. Its very light which "could" (but not necessarily) indicate its cheaply made. Only time will tell.

Overall Review: Make sure the other devices your connecting it to are also 1gig devices. IMHO its kind of pointless to replace or buy a 1 gig switch and connect it to 10/100 nic cards/routers unless you plan to upgrade them eventually.

Major Dell warranty issues

DELL Laptop Intel Core i7-740QM 6GB Memory 500GB HDD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Alienware M15x(m15x-472CSB)
DELL Laptop Intel Core i7-740QM 6GB Memory 500GB HDD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Alienware M15x(m15x-472CSB)

Pros: It was fantastic for about 45 minutes. I was loving it. Much nicer than my previous two gaming laptops. A Dell Inspiron 9300 and Gateway 6860. Was also cheaper.

Cons: My hard drive died within an hour. Newegg recommended I call Dell. I called Dell and spent a total of 4 1/2 hours (three calls) with Dell trying to get the hard drive and warranty issue resolved. Dell tech couldn't get their system to process support call. There was some big issue with who I bought the M15x from and warranty. Dell tech finally had "special team" put laptop under my name. I had to put another support call to get warranty date corrected.

Overall Review: The laptop is a 5 egg but the hard drive issue and the hassle of trying to resolve an underlying warranty issue between Newegg and Dell makes this purchase a big zero. I still don't know 100% if the warranty issue has been resolved. They were going to send out a tech for on-site support but they couldn't. The best they could do was exchange the drive and I replace it.

The closest to CRT gaming quality your going to get

BenQ XL2730Z Black-Red 27" 1ms (GTG) WQHD Widescreen 2560 x 1440 LED Backlight TN Panel Adaptive-Sync (Free Sync), Auto Game Modes, Ergonomic Professional Gaming Monitor
BenQ XL2730Z Black-Red 27" 1ms (GTG) WQHD Widescreen 2560 x 1440 LED Backlight TN Panel Adaptive-Sync (Free Sync), Auto Game Modes, Ergonomic Professional Gaming Monitor

Pros: I've been upgrading gaming LCDs since I switched from CRTs 10 years ago on a regular basis. I've had to do this to try and find a LCD that didn't have the annoying ghosting/motion blur while playing FPS. Well this LCD is absolutely the best I have encountered so far. No, an overclocked Korean cannot remotely compete with this screen. I have a Qnix overclocked and the XL2730z destroys it. If your a FPS gamer or play fast paced games then don't hesitate buy this imediately. Its worth it.

Cons: The only con I can come up with is the blur reduction feature can make the screen to dark. However, this can be rectified through video setting options on the LCD and the OS video card settings.

Second dead MSI 7950 in 7 months

MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC
MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC

Pros: The 7950 is a great chipset. Newegg did a great job handing the situation when the first card arrived doa.

Cons: I've been a MSI motherboard and graphics card customer for years. I think MSI failed on the design with this card. The first one was doa. Seven months later the replacement has died on me. I'm shipping it back to MSI today but at this point I've lost all confidence in this card and its reliability.

Defective upon arrival

MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC
MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC

Pros: Neweggs shipping was fast. Hope the RMA is just as fast.

Cons: The card was defective upon arrival. The display port I connected the card to was defective displaying flashing pixels all over the screen on first boot up. In windows the display would turn on and off. I've been an exclusive MSI customer for about 8 years buying their brand of motherboard and videocard for myself, freinds and families system builds/upgrades. Their products have been rock solid until now. I'm sure some slip through the cracks but I don't know how this one did considering it was seriously defective upon arrival. Now its costing me $15 to RMA it hoping the replacement works. When I start paying for return shipping I start to consider other brands for future purchases.

Hopes for a finger tip mouse gone due to poor design

RAZER Black Wired Laser TRON Gaming Mouse
RAZER Black Wired Laser TRON Gaming Mouse

Pros: Perfect height for those gamers who grip their mouse with finger tips or claw style. Most of todays gaming mice are built tall and long for palm style gaming.

Cons: The grip or lack of made it difficult to hold the mouse. The top and bottom of the mouse have sharp (not enough to cut you) edges. The sides house two large buttons (each side) leaving no room to hold and control the mouse comfortably. It also felt very cheap.

Overall Review: For a $95 mouse I expected better quality. The Razer Imperator is better quality and cheaper. It's just to big for finger tip mousers. Razer if your reading this its time to consider mice for finger tip gamers. Not everyone wants or needs giant mice. The Tron and Starcraft mice are very close, use them as your starting reference. Improve the quality/design and you'll have a winner.
